He let the man talk.
Honestly, Ethan needed this.
Chris was the logical one out of all of them, and Ethan knew he’d talk him down from this very precarious ledge.
Yeah, this was exactly what he needed.
“When we see that moment, we’ll intercede. So far, she’s got it under control. He’s left one scene, and she’ll find the second one. If she’s already in the air and would have been there if not for the Von Donore thing, she’s all over his plan. Trust in her.”
This helped him calm down.
Chris had spent years with Elizabeth before he had ever entered her life. Blackhawk had to trust that he knew her well.
“The thing about Elizabeth is she’s strong until she gets her feet kicked out from under her. When she does, sheALWAYSregroups. It just takes time. We’ll let her regroup, and then do what we always do.”
He waited.
“We’ll love her and be here when she needs a safe place to land.”
Ethan needed to know.
“What happens if she hates me for usurping her control on this. I know she’s capable and good at what she does. I just can see what’s coming, and it’s going to be bad. It infuriates methat someone is taking shots at my wife. She’s off limits in my world, and that Devon Slater is trying to hurt her makes me irrational.”
Oh, well, he could see that.
Ethan was super protective of her. Him wanting to burn the world to the ground for Elizabeth…
There was no shock there.
Truly, this was none of their first times at this rodeo. Ethan was predictable, if anything.
The bottom line was that it took a lot to catch their woman off guard. The last time she was shellshocked was when she found out that Tony Morell had found Charlie alive and then let him die without calling for help out of spite.
That had been a killing blow to her heart.
Like when Sam had been murdered and eaten.
There was no doubt she’d be okay when all was said and done.
Elizabeth was a force to be reckoned with in her own way, and she would bounce back. There was no doubt in his mind that Elizabeth could handle this.
They just had to give her time and stay safe so she could focus.
“If we stay out of her way, and where she needs us, she will make sure this is handled. We have to trust her,” Chris admitted. “We all have roles in this, and ours is to be here when she needs us as backup.”
He was to the point.
“I do know that and with all of me. I just get scared that something is going to happen to her. I love her more than anything. I know that’s shitty to say to a man I also love, but she’s my core. When Gene left me, I was back to the freefall. She saved me, and not once in fifteen years has she ever dropped me.”
Reassuringly, Chris patted his cheek.
Oh, they all had a special attachment to Elizabeth.
“You’re not divulging some information we aren’t well aware of, Ethan. Do you think any one of us loves her less than the other people in our relationship? I love you and Callen, but she’s my soulmate. She’s my wife. I married her years ago, and by the grace of Charlie, he gave me that gift when I thought I’d never have it. You’re so special to me, as is Callen and Gene, but she’s…”
He knew.
“All.”
