Tahjir stood outside the passenger’s door, waiting for her. Reluctantly, she reached for the door handle and rushed out of the car. I watched them drive off and got out of my vehicle with urgency. As soon as I stepped foot into the hospital I was at thenurses’ station asking for Harbor’s room. I was sent up to the fourth floor.
Arriving outside of her door, I saw that another man had been placed on her door to keep an eye on her. I was grateful for it but was wondering where the fuck Knowledge was. I gave King the nod and pushed the door open to the room. Harbor sat up in the bed, and as soon as Ivy set her sights on me, she came rushing.
“Daddy!” She buried her face in my torso and held me tight.
I embraced her back, and Harbor and I locked eyes over her head. Relief filled her face when she saw me.
“Where the hell have you been!” she barked. “Are you okay?”
“I was dealing with another emergency,” I answered, and Ivy pulled away from me.
I took steps closer to Harbor, pausing at her side and reaching for her hand.
“What’s going on? How are you?” I asked, my hand falling on her round stomach as she stared up at me.
“Better than before. They told me to take it easy, but the contractions stopped. So baby is still baking for the next few weeks.” She rubbed her belly in a circle and sighed. “I am waiting on the discharge papers so that we can go home.” Her head sank back into the pillow, and she kept her eyes fixed on me.
I brought my hand up and ran my fingers through her hair. She had never been finer. Pregnancy really suited her. That was saying a lot because some chicks really let themselves go during and after giving life. Harbor wore that shit like a true queen, with grace and a glow to match.
“How did you even end up here?” I inched closer to her.
She licked her lips and sighed.
“We were leaving the office, and someone started shooting. Deviance was hit. He’s in surgery right now.” Her eyes watered. “I thought we were done. You couldn’t tell me we weren’t goingto die on that street. And then… Ledge was there, saving us.” Both of my brows lifted at that revelation.
“Ledge? What?—”
“He was there to see Chevy. She stopped in to grab something, and I guess they got into some argument. If he hadn’t had second thoughts about coming back to talk to her, we might not be here. They had to leave. That crazy ass girl, Kitana, she kidnapped the kids,” Harbor revealed.
“What!” My eyes bugged out.
“Yeah. I don’t know what’s going on. They left out of here in a rush.” She went on.
“This has been a crazy fucking night,” I muttered, shaking my head and pinching the corner of my eyes.
“Tell me about it,” Harbor muttered. “I am ready to get home and get in the bed. I could really use some of Celine’s comfort food. When is she coming back?”
I couldn’t answer that. And right now, that was the last thing on my mind.
I was relieved that my girl, and my seeds were both safe. Kneeling over, I kissed the top of her head and held her close to me.
“I’ll order something on the way and pick it up,” I assured her. “Sounds like you are working from home until this little person makes their entrance.” I seated myself on the edge of her bed and took her hand in mine.
“That’s fine with me. I have a nursery to decorate.” Her smile lit up her entire face, and it made my heart swell in my chest.
I loved this girl. That was one thing that I didn’t question. What I thought I felt for Ivana couldn’t compare, because it wasn’t the same. Harbor had my heart so tight in her clutches that she had complete control over it. She held all of the power, and I was weak for her. Whatever she wanted or needed, shewould get. Ivy stood not far behind me, hovering and watching us together.
“I’m taking care of you and catering to you the rest of the way. What you want to eat?” I asked, kissing her hand.
“Mexican!” My daughter chimed in. “Enchiladas and tacos!”
“Ooh, that sounds so good,” Harbor moaned like she was having a damn orgasm. “Can you get my clothes so that I can get dressed?” she asked my daughter.
“Well, you did put your life in front of mine tonight, pregnant and all, so I guess I can do you a favor.” Ivy was playful as she rolled her eyes and ducked off into the private bath.
“You are a blessing, Harbor. The best kind because I didn’t see you coming. Thank you for looking out for my daughter and her well-being. She didn’t come from you, but you have shown that she means something to you.”
“She’s a part of you.” Harbor kept her head on the pillow and watched me back with sparkling eyes. “How could she not drive me crazy and make me love her at the same time?” she teased, taking me in while squinting.
