There’s a buzzing sound coming from somewhere near, but my mind’s too busy to react to it.

“Your phone,” he mumbles against my lips.

“What?”

“Your phone’s ringing.”

“Fuck that. It’s probably just my mom.”

But then Kaden’s pocket begins to vibrate instead. He breaks the kiss, groans and pulls the phone from his pocket.

“It’s Iggy,” he says, lips shiny with our saliva, cheeks a little flushed. “Sully! What’s up?”

I can’t hear what she’s saying but Kaden frowns a little, before he blinks slowly and let’s his head fall back. “Yeah? No, we haven’t.” His one hand is still on my thigh, and he squeezes it. “Okay, see you soon,” he says, placing the phone on the counter and looks at me. “Her date fell through. She’s coming over.”

Kaden

I’venotbeenableto think about literally anything else than what Seth said on the phone this weekend. Then he ghosted me for days for some reason. I’ve never had phone sex before, but it was hot. Really fucking hot.

But then, when I finally get my hands on him, Iggy decides to sweep in and cockblock me.

“She stood me up,” Iggy says, as soon as she enters Seth’s apartment. She kicks off her chunky boots, making her about two inches shorter than I’m used to seeing her, and combs her short bangs down.

“What? She didn’t show up?” Seth asks, getting another plate and placing it on the kitchen island.

Iggy trudges past me, flopping down on a chair.

“No,” she says, snatching a piece of cucumber.

“No text or anything?”

“No text, no call. No nothing.”

“That’s pretty shitty,” I say.

Seth opens the fridge, glancing at Iggy. “You want a beer?”

“Yes, please,” she says, before dropping her head down on the counter, grunting. Seth raises his eyebrows at me and I nod, accepting a bottle from him.

“And I wore my best bra for this, do you know how uncomfortable this bra is?” She whips her head up again. “Is it really that hard to just say ‘thanks, but no thanks, I’ve changed my mind’?”

“No, but people are assholes, I’ve told you that,” I say, cracking open my beer, taking a gulp.

“Maybe she had an emergency or something,” Seth says, leaning back against the counter, beer in hand.

“No, ‘cause when I went to see if she was online on Tinder, I couldn’t find our conversation, so I’m pretty sure she unmatched me.”

“Get off Tinder.” I shake my head. “You can’t trust those people.”

She frowns at me. “What people?”

“The ones you find on Tinder.”

“I’m those people,” she says, pointing to herself. “Also, you don’t trust anyone, so…”

“For good reasons.”
