Seth puts his fists up, punching the air, and skips up to me. He punches me on my arm, and I barely flinch.
“You’re an idiot,” I laugh.
“What was that? You wanna go?” he says, punching me harder.
I narrow my eyes at him. “Do that again, see what happens.”
“Ooh, someone’s cocky!” he taunts as he laughs.
I glance down at myself, biting my lip, and look up at him again with a smug smile.
“Dude,” he says, dropping his hands, and stops the music. “I wasn’t talking about your dick.”
“Sure you weren’t.” I nod once and walk over to the counter.
“Asshole!”
He walks over to me, as I inspect the calendar.
“What’s this?” I ask, pointing to an appointment.
“Oh, yeah. Dragon-Jude called last week. Said he needed a touch-up. I figured you’d be back tomorrow so I booked him. You might wanna call and confirm, though, ‘cause I told him you were sick.”
I pick up the phone, glancing at the number scribbled by Jude’s name, and dial.
“Jude speaking.” There’s some background noise, loud enough to make me pull away from the phone. Sounds like he’s on a construction site or something.
“Hey, man. It’s Kaden. Bold Tattoo.”
“Oh, hey! All good? I heard you were sick?”
“Yeah, just a cold.” I clear my throat. “But I just wanted to call and confirm your appointment for tomorrow. Is one-thirty still good?”
“Yes, that’s great! It’s just a little touch-up.”
“Yeah, we’ll take a look at it.”
“Great! Hey, uhm…” He clears his throat.
“Yeah?”
“Uh, never mind. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
I hang up and stroll over to Seth by his station.
“You mean if he finds out,” he mumbles with a squeaky voice, putting plastic over the table. “If, if is good,” he says in another voice, making me snort. He turns around, chuckling.
“Been watchingHerculesagain?”
“Yeah,” he grins. “Lou and I had a Disney marathon the other night. All good?”
“Yep.” I nod, dropping down on my chair beside him as he continues prepping. “Did I tell you he asked about you?” I add.
“Who?”
“Jude.”
“What, now?” He turns around, eyebrows raised.
