“You don’t have to apologize. You did what was best for you. We still ended up where we were supposed to be. I didn’t even have to break into your apartment to get here. I was prepared though.”
“Oh my God, Seven! You would’ve broken into my place?”
“Hell yeah,” he said with a frown. “I couldn’t let you be slow forever, girl. You needed to see that I was who you needed. I knew you loved me long before you said it. That was part of the reason why you allowed me to stick around.”
His phone started ringing before I could confirm or deny his analysis of me. I pulled the sheet over my body, not wanting to get up to even shower. I was so damn tired. I wanted to believe it was my nerves that had me so exhausted.
“I’m at Iesha’s . . . who . . .? Naw, I don’t know him . . . Okay. They fell for it . . .? Incompetent muthafuckas . . . A’ight. I’ll holla at y’all tomorrow morning.”
He ended the call with a smirk on his lips as I stared at him. He got back in bed with me and pulled me to him. He knew it was killing me to know what he was talking about. That was why his ass was lying here with a smirk on his lips. I remained quiet for as long as I could.
“Seven, quit playin’!” He fell out laughing. He made me sick! “Nigga, you know it’s killing me!”
“That was Ace. He said the FBI apprehended a suspect.”
I frowned slightly. “For killing the agent?”
“Mm-hmm.”
“Do you know who they apprehended?”
“Yep. One of those niggas in Liberty that was trying to get at me.”
“Wow. Why did he think he could get away with killing an agent?”
“Hell if I know. I don’t try to figure out people’s decisions who are beneath me mentally.”
I slowly shook my head. I knew he wasn’t telling me everything. My gut was telling me that the man they arrested was framed, simply by the pieces of the conversation I heard. However, I knew he wouldn’t say a word about that. I just hoped they knew what they were doing. It would kill me if Seven got taken away from me over some bullshit.
“Chill out, baby. I can hear your wheels turning. Everything is under control. I promise.”
He kissed my head. I did my best to relax, like he said to do.
“I can’t wait to see what the house will look like.”
“You don’t have to wait.” He grabbed his phone from the nightstand. “I have the plans on my phone.”
When he handed it to me and I saw the two-story, brick beauty, I gasped. “Seven, this is gorgeous.”
“Swipe and you can see the floorplans.”
I did as he said and was in awe. It was going to have four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and plenty of space. The kitchen was big, along with the family area. I swiped again and came across a video. I frowned slightly, then turned the volume up on his phone. Somebody was snoring loud. Before I could ask, my face came into view. My eyebrows lifted as he chuckled.
“I know like hell you didn’t record me sleeping!”
“I shol in the hell did. You see it. Look at how your titties hanging out of that tank top, girl. What’s the point in even putting that shit on. It look uncomfortable as hell.”
I swiped again to see a closeup of my face. My eyes widened all over again. “Seven!”
He laughed hard as hell. “I had to take a picture of you drooling. You would never believe me if I said you did. I was saving that in my arsenal for when we got into it about something. I was gon’ blackmail you with that shit.”
I shoved him, then threw his phone to the bed as he continued to laugh. Turning my back to him, I couldn’t help but smile. He was such a jackass. He slid his arm under me and lifted my leg with the other and slid inside of me, causing my eyes to roll to the back of my head.
“Seven, you don’t have on . . . a condom.”
“You want me to stop?”
“Yes. I’m not ready for a baby. Y’all niggas too potent in big city Nome.”
