He knots me, giving me what my body needs, yet I still ache for so much more. I need his bond so bad, I’m not sure which need plagues me more.

The warm wateragainst my muscles has me groaning. No matter how in shape you are, getting an Omega through their heat will make you sore.

Though I’d take feeling this sore every day if it meant having Maisie in my life.

Greer is brushing his teeth, his hair wet from his own shower, as he prepares another rag to wash Maisie off. I had a feeling the first thing she’d want out of heat would be a proper shower.

“How much longer do you think?” I ask loudly over the water and Greer turns, resting his hip on the vanity, taking the toothbrush out of his mouth and spitting before he speaks.

“Probably another spike or two and then I’d imagine it will be over.”

“And what happens then?” I ask. Greer is pack lead for a reason.

“Then we go back to the original plan, figuring out what we need to do in order to make her stay. There had to be a reason she wanted to talk to all of us that night. If she really wanted to leave, she wouldn’t have told us we were scent matches. We’ll lether know that we’ll go at her pace and that we’ll do whatever we need to for her to feel comfortable.”

I nod while washing my hair. That sounded good and all, but I was struggling.

Struggling to not bond her this whole fucking time, to not promise her the world while she was in heat. Callum and Greer didn’t seem to be having the same issue, and it made me feel like I should be in better control of myself. Kissing her neck, sucking on her skin, it was like torture.

Deep down I knew we were doing the right thing, that I wanted Maisie’s verbal consent, that I wanted her to remember our bonding. I’d make it special for her, and I think I know exactly the spot that would be perfect. Yet, this primal need is suffocating me. I need her heat to end before I give in to a temptation I know I shouldn’t.

Greer pulls back the curtain, looking me in the eye as I blink away some of the shower drops.

“It won’t be much longer. You’re being a good Alpha. Once she’s out of heat, it won’t be riding you so bad.”

“It’s bad for you too?” I ask and Greer laughs.

“Yeah, it’s fucking torture. I want to sink my teeth in her and make sure that she can never leave the country again, but we’re better men—Alphas—than that. Hopefully, it’s just one more day and then not so much will be up in the air.”

“I fucking hope so,” I say, running my hands through my wet hair.

Not that helping Maisie in heat is a chore, or that I don’t want her body, it’s that I want her so badly I can’t keep a level head about it. I’ve never felt this way about a woman before. This incessant need never rode me this way before. It’s solely something Maisie specific, maybe because we’re scent matches, or maybe it’s just me being in love with her and just wanting her so damn bad.

A lot of women tended to write me off. They considered me too unserious or thought I talked too much.

Not Maisie though, she likes me as I am. Sometimes I compare myself to steadfast Greer, or intense Callum and feel lacking. Maisie never makes me feel that way. She likes my jokes, hearing me talk about history, and seems to yearn for adventure the same way I do.

She’s the perfect woman; the fact that she’s an Omega and my scent match are all bonuses.

I simply wrap a towel around my waist to go back into the nest. What was the point of clothes when Maisie would demand I take them off right away?

“There he is, baby. It’s fine, see?” Callum says as I’m opening the door.

The look on Maisie’s face is enough to make me want to give her all my worldly belongings and my heart.

I’d been gone for ten minutes and she missed me. She wanted all of us.

“What’s wrong?” I ask, approaching the nest bed where Maisie is sitting on her knees. She’s gloriously naked. Her braided hair is a disaster, but she’s still the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen. Her cheeks are incredibly flushed, her eyes watery as she wiggles a hand at me.

I glance over to Greer and he just gives me a nod, like he manifested every word he said in the bathroom.

“Our sweet girl has done so well. She needs all of her Alphas, doesn’t she?” Greer asks.

Maisie sighs happily, like she’s glad someone finally understands what she wants. I drop my towel and get on the nest bed.
