I glance at the large man bounding up the stairs, who gives a sheepish smile to me and Greer.

“Arran,” Greer says and the man waves.

“Hiya, Greer.”

They both have red hair and my mind automatically wonders if they’re related. Wouldn’t that be some twisted fate?

“I’ll be seeing you tonight, then?” Arran asks my sister, and she gives him a smile.

“I’ll let you know,” she replies back.

Birdie comes up the stairs, and Greer takes her place. Both of the men look up at us and we give them both awkward waves before I unlock the door.

As soon as we’re both inside there’s a long silence.

“See, I knew you just needed to get laid. How do you feel?” Birdie asks and I blink at her.

“You also just came home in the morning with a Scotsman, did you not?”

“Yeah, but we’re not talking about me. We’re talking about you. How was it?”

“Unbelievable,” I say, falling onto my bed, and Birdie takes a seat on her own bed.

“And what about you?” I ask her, she just smirks.

She shrugs. “Nothing wrong with a bit of a highland fling.”

“That’s all that it is?”

“Of course, have your fun, Maisie. We deserve it. Hey, were you still thinking about going to Oban this weekend?”

“Yeah, I think that would be great,” I tell her honestly.

“Maybe we could take some of Mom’s ashes?”

“I think she’d like that.”

“I might have gotten us a ride too, so that we won’t have to drive and nearly die.”

My glare has her grinning at me, undeterred.

“And who pray tell, is this driver?”

“A friend, you’ll like him. Anyway, I call shower first,” she says, getting up off of the bed and taking a shower.

So, it appears that me and my sister have both found some extracurricular activities in Scotland after all. I’m still not sure if this is a good or a bad thing in the long run, but the delicious soreness of my body and the lingering feeling of Greer’s kiss has me putting that all to the side. Plus, I have a very attractive tour guide to meet up with.

Birdie is already gone by the time I get out of the shower. She leaves me a little note with hearts that says not to do anything she wouldn’t do and I smile cause I don’t think that list is very long. My stomach sours a little over the fact I haven’t been completely honest with her.

I should tell her about my job and maybe get some pointers on how to protect myself when it comes to a purely physical relationship.

Maybe I put a little more effort into my makeup today and I even wear contacts, tossing my glasses in their case in my purse as a backup. There are butterflies in my stomach as I lock the door to our room and head toward Greer’s.

When I see Lain’s smiling face as he frantically waves at me from the door of his tour van my heart nearly skips a beat. He’s graciously back in his kilt, I can’t help but to have a flashback of how it felt to press my face against his bare thigh, the way he stroked my hair as his pack mate knotted me from behind.

I clear my throat, trying to push those memories away, but when Lain just comes up and grabs my cheeks in a kiss, I can’t tamp down this feeling.

Shit. I have a crush.
