Warm lips press against my temple. "I know, baby. I know," Amos soothes.
And he does. He understands. I see it in his eyes.
Getting myself together, I carry on, and by the time I finish the last word, she's passed out. I carry her to the crib her grandpa made for her and gingerly lower her down onto her stomach while Amos turns on the baby monitor. She lets out one of those sweet baby sighs and tucks her legs underneath her, little blanket-covered tush high in the air.
He bends down to press a soft kiss to her curls. "Goodnight, princess. Momma and Daddy love you. Come on, kitten. Let's go to bed."
Amos tugs my hand with his whisper, but I trip on something.
My blue rabbit.
"Wait." Picking it up, I place it on the glider, turning it just a bit so it sits evenly in the middle. Touching its floppy ear, I speak to it like I did all those years ago. "Watch over our baby girl, okay? Keep her dreams safe." With a final boop to its cloth nose, I turn and bump into Amos. "Sorry."
"It's fine. I just had to look at her one more time. She's so cute when she's sleeping." Drawing me to his front, his arms encircle me from behind, his chin lowering to rest on my shoulder as we stare down at our little sleeping miracle. "You thinking what I'm thinking?" His whisper is so quiet, Leila doesn't even stir.
Tilting my head back on his chest to look at him, I whisper back. "There's no telling with you. What are you thinking?"
Eyes serious, Amos cradles my cheek. "I'm thinking this house still has three empty bedrooms, and Leilani needs at least one older brother to protect her."
Emotion wells within me and happy tears make their appearance once again. This sweet man of mine knows just what to say. We'd briefly tried some non-invasive fertility treatments, but they made me so sick that Amos put his foot down and told me it was killing him to see me like that. Ever since then, we've focused on building our family another way.
"That's exactly what I was thinking, too. I haven't been able to get Isaiah off of my mind." His profile still shows active a year and a half later.
Amos nuzzles my ear and grazes my nipple with a thumb. "Know what else I'm thinking?"
"I think you're probably feeling a bit thirsty." I grind my ass against his thickening cock. "Am I right?"
The warm breath from his grin tickles my neck as he squeezes a heavy breast, forcing a light trickle of milk from the tip. "Let's go, wife. Time for a read and feed."
He's in for a treat tonight, because I'm reading from a spicy, sexy book.
It's going to be a good night.

3 1/2 Years Later
"Thanksformakingthis,Uncle Connor." Isaiah opens his bedroom door so we can wrestle the elaborately hand-carved dragon bookcase through the doorway.
"You're welcome, bud," he grunts out. "I'm sure you'll get it filled up with books in no time at all and then I'll have to make you another one. Maybe you can help me, too. And down on three. One...two...three."
When the heavy wooden bookcase makes contact with the rug, Connor straightens and reaches for the hem of his shirt as he huffs, "Damn. Lugging that thing up the porch steps and upstairs is enough tomake a man break a little sweat. Even with it being chilly outside."
"A little out of shape, are we? Hey—shirt down." I cast a furtive eye around and move in front of him, nodding to my fifteen-year-old son."Isaiah, watch the door, will you?"
"Sure thing, Dad." His lanky form travels closer to the entrance.
"Dude, what's wrong with you? I'm only trying to wipe my face." Standing frozen with his stomach halfway showing, my baby brother's confusion is written all over him.
"Blocking the view. Mercy might be around," I mutter.
He grins as he catches on. "What—you don't want your wife getting a peek at all this muscle?"
My curse is muffled by a screech that rivals a pterodactyl's as Leila streaks past her brother into his room. "Unka Connor! Safe me, Unka Connor!"
Connor's shirt drops as he swoops down to pick up his niece. "You're safe with me, princess! But who am Isafingyou from?"
"Leilani Shay..." Mercy calls out from the hallway. "Where are you?"
