“I fucked up. My dad thought it was a good idea for me to go to college and sow my oats on someComing to Americashit. I never planned to fall in love. I never planned to meet you. Even when I knew I was falling for you, I had this other shit hanging over my head, but I was in love with you. Iamin love with you.”
“Why are you telling me this now? Aren’t you married and living happily ever after?”
“I’m never going to be happy, if it’s not with you.”
“Yeah right. You played me and let me make a fool of myself.”
“I was young, dumb, and full of cum, but I knew with all my heart that I loved you.”
Ignoring the part of his comment that was pure bullshit, I laughed. “I’m pretty sure they use that for girls.”
“You know yourself that I was full of cum.” He smirked.
“Don’t even,” I said, pushing back from the table yet again.
“Let me make it up to you, Faith.”
“We are not dating, Reed. I’m not entertaining your nonsense. This is a job.”
“Entertaining me is part of the job.”
“I would actually rather deal with Nicholas. Where is he anyway?”
“You hated Nick.”
“He hatedme!” I contested.
“He thought you were too good for me, and of course, he knew about the arrangement. He wanted me to tell you.”
“Either way, I would rather work with him.”
“Out of the question. That wasn’t our agreement, my love.”
“Technically, we haven’t made an agreement yet,” I reminded him.
“We will. No need to rush with the formalities. First, I think we should catch up.”
“That’s unnecessary. I told you this is not a date.”
“Have you gotten it out of your system?” he asked, hiking his brows.
“Actually, no. What the hell do you mean have I gotten it out of my system? I’m never going to get it out of my system. I’m never going to stop talking shit about how you?—”
“Not that. I expect you to do that,” he said, cutting me off with a wave of his hand. “I mean everything else. All that shit you were doing while I was away. I’m talking about you seeing, dating, and fucking other men. Have you gotten it out of your system?”
I rolled my eyes. “I don’t see how that’s any of your business.”
“Well, it is. I’m ready for you to come home, baby.”
“I have a home, and it’s about forty-five minutes away from here.”
“I need a list, Faith.”
“What kind of list?”
“A list of all of the men who have laid a finger on you since I last touched you.”
I burst out laughing but surprisingly Reed’s facial expression never changed.
