He didn’t turn around as he replied. “No. It was dark when I found you, and the hole was pitch black compared to the moonlight reflecting off your shield.”

“So… the whole time I was asleep, you didn’t look at me?” I asked.

“No.”

I felt a flicker of warmth in my chest. He could have looked at me. But he didn’t.

Unless he did, and he was lying.

An old twinge gnawed at my insides. I’d known liars. I’d bunked and worked with a heinous one: Unit 44. My ex-coworker. The human man who’d manipulated young Kur’tok into committing arson and setting his life on a tumultuous path, from which he had only just escaped with Paz’s help.

But… Farr’vye wasn’t like that. If Farr’vye were a liar, he would’ve kept his twisted story to himself. He didn’thaveto tell me the truth.

“Okay,” I said on an exhale. “I believe you.”

Farr’vye didn’t turn around, but his feelers flashed in an array of muted pastels, which I took as a sign of his gratitude.

“I will respect your wishes for as long as you ask,” he said. “But if we are to stay on the outskirts of the village, I do eventually need to face you.”

I sighed in resignation. “Yeah. I know.”

“Or we can remain out here forever. Just the two of us alone.”

A shy smile spread across my face. That wasn’t a serious suggestion… was it?

“I am only teasing,” Farr’vye said. I expected his tone to be lighthearted, but it was oddly serious. “I do not sincerely believe you wish to be alone with me after hearing my tale.”

My smile dropped. “What?”

“You ran away last night. Immediately.”

Guilt stabbed me like a dagger. I hadn’t meant to hurt his feelings. Farr’vye had the wrong idea, but it was my own fault. Me and my stupid dick.

“No, Farr’vye, it wasn’t like that,” I rushed out. “It had nothing to do with you. It was…”

Damn it. How was I even supposed to finish that sentence?Sorry, it was because of my unhinged boner?

Speaking of which, I was suddenly aware of the gross feeling inside my suit. It was… a large load. And it was all dried up inside my only piece of clothing.

Now I felt disgusting on the inside and the outside.

If I scrubbed this out, it would fall to pieces. I can’t keep pretending I can wear this suit forever…

I glanced over the grassy fields. The Maeleon village sat on the horizon—close enough to retreat to, yet far enough to feel secure at a distance. If I chose to strip, no one could intrude on us without Farr’vye noticing.

The only problem was Kookee. Kur’tok would worry about his pet. I was surprised he hadn’t come looking for it by now.

“Do you think we’re safe out here? Alone, I mean?” I asked.

He kindly ignored the fact that I bypassed the previous topic.

“No living creature could sneak up on you without my knowing,” he confirmed.

That was comforting. And kind of hot.

My cock twitched, and I desperately willed it not to. Another erection was the last thing I needed in my current predicament.

“What about Kookee?” I asked.
