But I wasn’t expecting to have to drive an hour away because they ordered from the wrong store. By the time Denny realized the mistake, it was time for it to be picked up, so I had no choicebut to travel across the river just to retrieve it. Then, to top it all off, it was a large order.

Let’s be real, though, as much as I complained and whined, none of that shit mattered if it meant that I got to do things for Denny. I’d do whatever they wanted whenever they wanted, and they knew that. It was no secret that Denny Houston had me wrapped around their finger, and I didn’t mind.

As soon as I make it back to the house, I busy myself with unloading the groceries. I call out to Denny, but they’re nowhere to be found. After bringing the last few inside and making sure the car and front door were locked, I ventured down the hall to search for them. It was unusually quiet, and I felt a bit on edge, but right as I reached the back door, Denny pops out of nowhere. I jump, placing my hand over my heart as it beats against my chest.

“Hey, babe!” Denny greets me, and I stare at them as if they’ve lost their mind. They giggle, wrapping their arms around me and leaning in to kiss me. “Sorry for scaring you. I didn’t hear you come in.”

“I almost passed the fuck out,” I admitted, shaking my head. “I swear, I saw my life flash before my eyes. Don’t do that again, please.”

“Aww, I’m sorry, sweetheart. I’ll make it up to you.”

“And how do you plan on doing that?” I smirk, placing my hands on their hips. I pull them closer as they smile that gorgeous smile of theirs.

“I’ll show you after we put away the groceries,” they say before kissing me once more. They step out of my grasp and head towards the kitchen. “Quickly, baby.”

I nod, even though I know they couldn’t see me, and then follow them back to the kitchen. It doesn’t take us long to store everything in its place, and soon, Denny is taking my hand in theirs and leading me back towards the back door.

As soon as we stepped outside, my jaw dropped as I took in the beautifully decorated backyard. It looked like a pink lover’s paradise thanks to all the various shades of streamers, balloons, blankets, and pillows. It was beautiful, and when my eyes finally landed on the large projector screen set up at the edge of the gazebo, today’s very important errands that I had to run made perfect sense.

It was all just a distraction for me so that Denny could set this up for us.

If I wasn’t already so in love, this would’ve damn sure been the moment I fell for them.

I turned to face them and noticed them teetering from side to side, excitement and anxiousness rolling off them in waves. I knew that they were waiting to hear my thoughts, but instead of words, I pulled them in to kiss deeply.

“I’m guessing you like it,” they giggle once we break apart. I nod. “You’re always doing stuff like this for me, and I just wanted to be the one doing something planned for you for once.”

“I love it, Bunny,” I assure them. “I should’ve known you were up to something when you sent me across the river.”

“Yeah, sorry about that.”

“Hey, it was so worth it though,” I smile. I take their hand in mine and lead them to the gazebo.

We kick off our shoes and get comfortable on the plush rug. There was an array of snacks and drinks that made my stomach rumble since I hadn’t eaten anything since earlier today. When Denny noticed me eying the covered plate beside them, they grabbed the small tray it was on and placed it in my lap.

When they removed the cover, I was rendered speechless once more at the visual before me. One of my favorite meals of pot roast with creamy mashed potatoes stared back at me, and I could feel my mouth watering. My stomach rumbled loudly.

“I guess you were hungry, huh?”

“Hell yeah,” I nod. “I haven’t eaten since earlier, but I had plans of makingyoudinner. Whole time, you were the one cooking for me. Have I ever told you how much I love you?”

“Only about ten times a day.”

“Only ten?” I smirk. “Damn, I think I need to go for twenty.”

“You’re so silly,” they shake their head.

“And you’re so fine,” I flirt.

They sit up on their knees before crawling between my legs. I watch in amusement as they rub their hands up and down my thigh. They sink their teeth into their bottom lip, and I could feel the heat rise between us. I wasn’t sure what Denny was up to, but Iwassure that I wanted all parts of it.

“Taste it and tell me how you like it,” they say, their voice dripping dangerously low.

I nodded, lifting a spoonful of the hearty meal to my mouth. It was still warm, and as I chewed and swallowed, the comforting taste engulfed me. It tasted of home and love all rolled up into one, and I was enjoying every second of it. I’m pretty sure that I moaned at one point because of how good it was. Denny was an amazing cook, no doubt, but that didn’t stop me from constantly being blown away whenever I had something of theirs.

Denny watched as I scarfed down the food in record time and then handed me a glass of wine to wash it down. They asked if I wanted them to fix me another helping, and I almost agreed, but then I caught a glimpse of a small tray of pastries out of the corner of my eye. Damn, they were really spoiling me.

“You out here providing all of my weaknesses,” I groan after sinking my teeth into a fruit tart that they’d picked up from a bakery I’d never had before. It tasted like pure sin. “Bunny, this is too damn good. Where did you get these from again?”
