The deck hadn’t been built for this. They’d built it to expand the tavern and make a place for live music with an amazing view of the river.

But as Cass smiled at him, he knew that the deck had already served its finest purpose.

It had given him the perfect place to ask his mate to be his wife.

Their love story was just getting started.

All thanks to a burger with his name on it and the forgotten plans that brought Cass through The Howl’s doors and right into his arms.

Don’t leave yet! The alpha is still waiting for his truemate. Read on for Dare’s burger of the week, that just might give fate a little nudge…

A Burger for the Alpha

Sunday Night, Late May

Dare wiped down the bar as Trick and Cass put up the tables. That Sunday night had been busy, and he’d ended up pulling Trick from the door to help behind the bar for a while when they’d had a surge in patrons.

Now, the main room was empty, Sigh and Juliette were finishing up in the kitchen, and he was helping get things ready for Monday.

Trick and Cass finished putting the chairs up on the clean tables and joined him at the bar.

He pulled out waters for them from the fridge and opened one himself.

Sigh and Juliette came out from the kitchen, and Dare saw the tablet Sigh used to figure out the burgers of the week.

“What’s up for this week’s burger?” Dare asked, sliding waters over to them as they sat at the counter.

“I have some ideas,” Trick said.

Dare looked at him. “Why do I feel like I’m going to regret asking?”

“Because you know it’s your turn,” Juliette said. “And they’re magic.”

“They’re just burgers,” Sigh said.

“Come on,” Cass said. “You know that there’s definitely something going on with the burgers. Fate is having fun with what you’re doing. Now it’s Dare’s turn.”

“I actually have a coffee date tomorrow,” he said, thinking about the human female he’d matched with. They were meeting at The Coffee Shop Next Door at eight. If it went well, he was going to ask her to dinner that night. But he’d been on so many bad dates, he was about ready to chuck his phone into the river.

“Well, let’s see if we can grease the wheels of fate in your favor,” Sigh said. He poked around on the tablet for a few moments, then said, “I’ve got it. Drum roll please.”

Everyone pounded their hands on the bar and Dare felt his skin prickle with blush. He never would have thought he’d be the last in the pack to find his forever-girl.

He doubted a burger inspired by him was going to fix his love life or the lack of it, but he appreciated their enthusiasm.

“The Alpha Howl,” Sigh said.

“Oh, freaking absolutely not,” Dare said.

“Yes, give it a chance!” Juliette said.

Cass leaned forward. “What’s on it?”

“Sharp cheddar, crispy fried onions, and steak sauce.”

He stared at his family. Everyone was grinning.
