Completely boneless and exhausted, I lay under him, unable to move. “I love you, Kellen,” I murmured, licking the wound I made.

“Love you, too,” he whispered. “So fucking much, it scares me. I’d rip the world apart for you.”

And I knew he did and would, thanks to our link. Having the connection snap into place, there was nothing we could hide from each other. A scary thing, but I was glad. Except now I couldn’t think bad things about him.

“You are still due for a few more punishments for past infractions.” Kellen lifted onto his forearms.

I hooked my arms around his neck. “If your punishment includes lots of big Os, I’m totally game.” I ruined the announcement with a yawn.

My mate shook his head, then rolled out of bed. “Stay right there,” he ordered.

I wanted to salute, but I wasn’t up to another round of his form of punishment just yet.

“I heard that.” Kellen came back in with a wet cloth in one hand and a dry one over his shoulder.

I had taken care of patients, had the man between my legs on an up close and personal level minutes ago. But having him wipe a damp washcloth across me, cleaning me up, then drying me, made heat crawl up my face. Damn my fair-skinned genetics.

Laughing, he tossed the wet washcloths in through the open door to the bathroom. “You’re cute when you blush.” The bed dipped as he climbed in. “Let’s get a couple of hours’ rest.” He pulled the blanket over us.

With a nod, I rolled into him, feeling his big arm hold me tight to his chest. I fell asleep almost immediately.

Chapter Nine

Ihated leaving Laikyn, but the needs of the pack called. I walked into the club, glancing around at the dozens of faces staring back at me. Heads bowed in respect as I strolled past. A few murmured words of respect, others nodded. I shook my head and walked to the raised dais that usually held the DJ. Xan stood there, his mate next to him, making my lips twitch.

“Your balls get lost?” I asked.

Xan raised his middle finger, pulling Breezy closer to his side, kissing her full on the lips in front of the crowd. “Yeah, I see that you have.”

“Alright, settle down, everyone,” I yelled, loud enough to be heard without a microphone. “I’ve got some shit to say, and I don’t want to repeat myself. I called this meeting, and for those who are not here, I will send this out through the pack link. However, I had hoped all available would make it.” I glanced around, making eye contact with each member I saw.

The Iron Wolves consisted of more than just a biker club. We had doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers, businessmen, and women. The club was where they could come and let loose, be themselves without fear of the human world finding out about them. We’d built the apartments attached to the back years ago, going deep underground to create a sanctuary away from prying human eyes in case of an emergency. There, they could safely live and hide if the need arose. Now, I wondered if the underground world would be more of a danger than a sanctuary with this new threat.

Taking a deep breath, I explained what we’d found in Kansas City, then told them of the threat on the road near my home. Gasps and cries of outrage filled the large room. I let them vent for a minute or so, then raised my fist. When the murmurs continued, I let my wolf come forward. My low growl rent the air. Instant obedience settled around me.

“Like I was trying to explain. We are now aware and can prepare. I want each of you to be on guard. Nobody is to go out alone until we eliminate the threat. Period. I don’t want any of you to leave with anyone you don’t personally know. If you have any doubts, call for help. I’d rather have a bunch of false calls than the alternative. Feel me?” I let them assimilate my words before continuing. “Now, it’s time for the fun part. I could tell you what to look for, but for you to truly know, I’m going to show you. It’s gonna be a mindfuck of epic proportions. The twin vamps who helped me are okay for bloodsuckers, but I want you to trust your gut as well.” I breathed out heavily.

“I’ll add my strength to you, Alpha.” Xan breathed out steadily.

I nodded in his direction. “Here we go, boys and girls. I’d lie and say this ain’t gonna hurt, but it might.” I let the silence settle, then I opened my mind to the pack. Long moments passed, emotions clogged the room, thickening the air. Eyes filled with fear, but I continued until I was sure they all had the knowledge needed.

“The Cordells? They seem honorable?” Xan spoke low.

“Yeah, but sometimes honor can be forgotten when a man wants something badly enough. I think they realized what they wanted wasn’t really theirs to begin with, and most are cool about it. I’d rip their fucking throats out and shit down their necks if they tried to take what’s mine,” I promised him.

Rueful amusement filled Xan’s gaze. “Nice description.”

“And on that note, I got to get to work.” Breezy interrupted us.

“You gonna let him have his balls back before you leave?” I quirked a brow.

Breezy patted Xan’s dick. “His balls are perfectly fine where they are. Oh, and I’ll let Laikyn know what you said. I’m sure she’ll find it hilarious, too.” She smiled sweetly. “Not.” She danced away before I could stop her.

“What the hell is she talking about?” I pointed at the blonde with pink and purple hair. The female whom my second thought the sun rose and set on her perfect head.

Xan stared after his mate. “I think Laikyn is going to be stopping in at the hospital or some shit. Fuck if I know.”

“Bullshit.” I jumped from the dais, already opening my link to Laikyn in my mind.“Laikyn, what the hell is this shit about you going to the hospital today?”My tone was more wolf than man.
