One of the other women across the table gives me a concerned look. “Are you alright, dear? You look a little flushed.”

“I’m fine,” I manage, voice slightly strained. “Just… warm in here.”

Maxim’s lips brush my ear again. “You’re soaking my fingers, baby. So fucking wet for me. I can feel how badly this greedy little cunt wants to come again. But you don’t get to come yet. Not until I say so.”

I want to kill him. I want to beg him. I want to climb into his lap right here in front of everyone.

By the time the main course arrives, I’m a mess, thighs slick, clit throbbing, body trembling with unfulfilled need. I’m desperate to leave, to go home, to make him finish what he started.

CHAPTER NINETEEN

Maxim

Torture used to be one of the best ways to calm the demons inside me. The sound of bones breaking, the metallic smell of blood, the control I had over another man’s pain, it grounded me.

Working out until my muscles screamed did the same thing. But right now, I’ve found a new drug.

Calina.

Being buried deep inside her, feeling her tight, wet heat clenching around my cock while she moaned my name against my mouth… that calmed me in a way nothing else ever has.

In the past few hours, I can still taste her on my tongue, still smell her sweet scent on my skin.

The way she fell apart for me in that bathroom, legs wrapped around my waist, back against the wall, taking every brutal thrust like she was made for me, it’s burned into my memory.

That’s the only reason Adrian Volkov is still breathing right now.

We were about to leave when he requested a private word. I almost told him to fuck off. Calina was already heading toward the car with Viktor shadowing her so I stopped for a few minutes.

Adrian started yapping the moment we were alone in the side room.

“I got your message,” he says, eyes cold. “You didn’t have to kill those men. It was part of the initiation process.”

I tilt my head, voice flat. “Really? Because the last time I checked, initiation didn’t involve trying to slit my throat. It was either them or me. I chose them.”

Adrian’s jaw clenches. “You’re too volatile. Too controversial. You don’t belong here. You weren’t born into the bloodline. You’re an orphan who got lucky.”

I smile coldly. “You're beginning to sound like a broken record, Adrian. I know you don’t like me. At this point, I don’t even care why. I’m already in the Society. I’m already part of it. So you might as well back the fuck off.”

He leans forward, voice dripping with venom. “The likes of you don’t belong here. My own son, my flesh and blood can’t join because he’s gay. But you? Some adopted stray? You get in because you latched onto the Morozov’s daughter.”

My hand tightens into a fist under the table. The urge to put a bullet between his eyes is almost overwhelming. But then I remember how Calina felt wrapped around me just hours ago, how she came so beautifully for me. How she’s waiting for me right now, and I calm down.

I stare Adrian down. “What do you want from me, Adrian? Pity? Because I have none to give. As for your son… I don’t give a fuck if he fucks men, women, or both. That’s his business, not mine. The reason he can’t get into the Society has nothing to do with me. It’s because of men like you: old, rigid, refusing to adapt to the times. You made the rules. Now they’ve come back to bite you in the ass, and you’re regretting it. If anyone is to blame, it’s you.”

Adrian’s face twists with rage, but I don’t stop.

“Back off. Stop sending your pathetic men after me. I don’t give a fuck about your archaic initiations. Stay away from me, or you’ll find out exactly why they call me the Devil.”

He fumes. “Is that a threat?”

“That’s not a threat. That’s a promise.”

I don’t wait for his reply. I turn and walk out, leaving him seething behind me.

The moment I step outside and see Calina standing with Viktor and Dmitri, standing by the car, something inside me settles. The rage, the tension, the bloodlust. It all quiets.

I walk straight to her. “Let's go.”
