Pulling out of my hold, she raises her eyebrows. “Good, but clearly not as good as yours.”
Smiling, I shrug. “It was eventful, but I missed you.”
She rolls her eyes, turning her focus back to the cake. With a side-eye glance, she quietly admits, “I missed you too.”
I wrap an arm around her waist and hold her back close to my front. “Can you say that again? Maybe louder?”
She shakes her head with a smirk. “How about I get on the rooftop and yell it to the town?”
“You wouldn’t hear me complaining, but just saying it again would be enough.” I kiss her neck and a soft, breathy moan falls from her lips in response.
Tilting her head toward me, she whispers, “I missed you, babe.” It’s even lower than the first time, but her lips brush against mine, like a secret only for me.
I lean forward, ready to deepen the kiss she’s teasing me with, but her elbow comes up and pushes into my ribs.
“Nuh-uh,” she says and holds a hand up. “I need to finish this! We still have to stop at home before meeting everyone at Max’s.”
Paul offered to pay for our dinner tonight, especially because he fell for Lexi’s charm after our trip. She is always the life of the party, was most concerned about including Jo (for example, their birthday dinner tonight), and spent time with Paul in the captain’s bridge. I’ve never seen him laugh as hard as he did the night he came out to have dinner with us.
His offer might honestly not be because of Jo this time.
With a wolfish grin, I grab Calypso’s hips to pull her closer and nibble at her exposed shoulder. She’s already dressed for the night, but when Paul called, our plans changed at the last minute; we both need to put on something nicer.
She looks fucking delicious in her miniskirt and black top. It’s the black boots I might beg her to put back on later, though.
“Liam,” she chastises. “I’ll be done soon.”
I suck on her earlobe and she moans. The piping bag is frozen in the air and her other hand lands on the metal worktable.
“You’re going to be too busy for me later,” I whine.
She rolls her head to the side so we’re forehead to forehead. “It’syoursister’s birthday dinner.”
“I don’t want to share you,” I murmur. “Especially when I could be fucking you instead.”
She snickers but her heady gaze stares at my lips.
“I’ll be quick,” I say and nip her lip. “I won’t even come. I’ll just get you off.”
She twists her lips to the side, seriously thinking it over.
“No.” Her no nonsense glare kills my dreams, but not my boner. “I need to finish this.”
Pouting, I move closer into her space until I’m flush against her back.
“I told you I was clingy,” I remind her.
“Stay there like a koala,” she says, pretending to be annoyed. I’ve learned the difference, and the biggest tell is that she sighs more when it’s not real. “Don’t distract me, though.”
I hum in acknowledgement but we both know that’s not going to happen. She throws me a scolding look before bending over the cake again. When she does, her ass pushes against my half-mast cock. I grunt and try to cover it with a cough, but she glares back at me.
“I can’t help it,” I argue.
Letting go of her, I try to distract myself by grabbing her phone and picking a song. Calypso hears the first few notes of “She’s A Lady” by Forever the Sickest Kids, and her head tips back on a deep belly laugh. We’re both singing along as I start to unbutton my dress shirt. The kitchen is always warm from the ovens, but I’m hoping I can convince Calypso to fool arounda little bitbefore we have to go to dinner.
Throwing my shirt on the empty nearby counter, I press against her again and tease her with the lyrics of the song. Of course I don’t hate her, nor is she a traitor, but some of the other lyrics are quite fitting for her prickly personality that I am fucking obsessed with. The entire time, I trace my fingers along her spine. It’s admirable how much she’s able to concentrate.
As she’s setting the tip into a new bag of icing, I glide my hand up the back of her thigh. She shivers when I tease under her skirt but don’t go further.
