Hannah stands frozen beside me.

Because she recognized him.

One of the boys from the blue rooms.

Jesus Christ.

I grab her hand and pull her hard inside just as bullets shatter the balcony doors behind us.

Glass explodes across the floor.

“Hannah!”

She blinks sharply like she’s waking up from a nightmare.

“He was there,” she whispers.

“In the blue room.”

No time.

No time for this now.

Gabriel storms into the hallway soaked from rain and carrying enough ammunition to invade a small country.

“We’ve got maybe five minutes before more teams arrive.”

Russ appears behind him.

“We need to relocate the children.”

“No,” Hannah says immediately.

Everybody looks at her.

Her breathing shakes slightly.

But her eyes?

Cold now.

Focused.

Done running.

“We keep moving and they keep finding us.”

Correct.

Very correct.

Gabriel studies her carefully from across the hallway.

“You have another idea.”

Hannah nods slowly.

And something about the look on her face makes the entire room quiet.
