“See, everything’s fine,” Clara said with a smile.

“When did she send it?” Zeus asked, hearing the tension in my voice.

I glanced up, and had a silent conversation with Zeus. Clara obviously didn’t know about Flame’s temper tantrum last time we saw him. I didn’t trust him. Fuck, I didn’t trust anyone with Finley.

“She’s been gone two hours,” I answered.

Zeus scowled at the same time I hit call on my phone. With every ring my shoulders tightened. My phone creaked when the voicemail picked up from me squeezing it so hard.

“Voicemail,” I ground out.

“I’ll call Flame.” Zeus headed upstairs and jogged back down with his phone in his hand.

“What’s going on?” Clara asked. “Is Finley all right? She’s been so upset about her brother not talking to her.” She stopped talking when she noticed the tension coming off me and Zeus.

“Flame isn’t the Reaper’s Rebels’ favorite person at the moment. He was upset that Finley seemed to choose Banshee over him,” Zeus explained.

“Not seemed, she did choose me over him.”

Zeus held his finger up, with his phone pressed against his ear. “Flame.”

I reached for the phone, but Zeus stopped me with a glare. “Flame, this is Zeus. I need you to call me back or have Finley call me or Banshee. You know what never mind, we’re on our way.”

My teeth were grinding together as Zeus left the message. When he clicked off the phone I went toward the door.

“Wait.” I paused at Zeus’ call, my hand on the doorknob.

“Why?”

“I know you’re freaking out, but you need to think. Let me call Marshal, Hawk, and Doc. We’ll all go with you. It’s not safe for you to go alone. We don’t know what’s happening and we need to be prepared.”

I knew he was right, but not being able to talk to Finley, not being able to touch her was driving me crazy. Letting go of the doorknob, I dialed Finley’s number again wanting to fucking explode when her voicemail picked up again.

“They’ll be here in a minute,” Zeus said when I hung up the phone.

“What if it was Clara?” I asked, wanting him to understand how fucked up this was that I wasn’t on my way to her.

“It has been Clara,” Zeus answered. “I promise we’ll get her back safely.”

“I’ll take that bloody Mary after all,” I said to Clara, needing something to do with my hands while we waited for the rest of the Elites.

“Me, too, and I bet the other guys would enjoy one, too. Come on. Let’s get them made before we take off.” Zeus slapped me on the shoulder as he led me to the kitchen.

I followed Zeus into the kitchen, downing the drink as soon as it was handed to me. The guys showed up, slamming their drinks as Zeus explained what was happening.
