“I’ve been denning with my wife mostly.” He said as he glanced at the ground. “She turned up pregnant shortly after everything happened. I’ve been living off of privately sourced food for a while since…”
“You don’t feed on her anymore,” I said, stunned. Draco shook his head with a proud smile of his own. I assumed it would be weird feeding off of her while she’s carrying your child. “Boy or girl?”
“A girl.”
“No wonder you’ve aged since the last time we saw one another…Come to me. My supply is much richer than whatever you’re drinking and helps with aging.”
“Yoooo hoooo?”
I turned around completely and smiled. Lovely Holmes stood just on the other side of my car with a gust of black smoke dissipating around her. She brushed off her short corset dress, wearing overly thick platform sandals. Her translucent wings fluttered for a moment before disappearing as she looked up with a bright smile. Her long braids were in the shape of cork screws hanging down like an old phone cord, and her make-up was as dramatic as ever. The over-the-top lashes that looked like wings, the shiny lips and corset sucked her waist into an impossible size that made her look like ribs were nonexistent. Knowing her, she probably broke them for this exact outfit.
“Oh my God, why does it smell like pee?!” She squealed as she looked around with her nostrils pinched.
“Cousin Lovely,” I said as she tipped her way towards me with her light feet and hugged me. She smelled like sweet honey and fresh blood. Pressing my nose against her neck, I playfully bit at her before she pulled back with a laugh. “Where have you been, Love?”
“Ooohhh I’ve been around,” she sighed with a pout. “I took a break from my page, putting out content became draining and dangerous…I’ve been doing a lot of traveling and soul searching…You know…” She wiggled her fingers. “Finding myself or whatever. Honestly, I forgot this place even existed. I have a lover in Senegal that I’ve been laying with. The faes out there are…to die for,” she said with a kiss. “Karl and Bilal send their love, but you know how they are. In the shadows and out of the way.”
“Uh huh…” Draco let out. “You look…good, Lovely.”
“Thank you, babe,” she grinned. “I heard we’re being hunted down…Bellamy, how have you managed? Where is my dear cousin, Maggie?”
Draco turned to look at me as I shook my head. It must be nice to just disappear from life without worrying about the troubles of what it brings.
“This is essentially her wedding night, yes? She’s marrying the wolf king! When I saw your invitation, I couldn’t believe it!” She gasped before grabbing my arm as she leaned in. “Of course, I knew it would happen. I’ve seen the way he looks at her, you know. Where is she? I want to make sure she looks amazing.”
“You know she’s missing, Lovely. That much I’m sure you know.”
“Yes but… I figured she would be here for her own wedding,” she pouted with a poke of her lips. The sulky expressionsuddenly brightened before she turned around. “Oh! Milly should be here soon!”
“Milly?” I asked, stunned though I shouldn’t have been surprised. “Carmilla is alive and well?”
“Yes, silly…Wesley too…They managed…though it took some time…She’s still recovering from the death of you know who,” she whispered.
Just as soon as she said it, the sound of smoke blew into the air like a bang as Carmilla Holmes appeared. It wasn’t just her and the usual slender sleek form. A tall man with white locs stood behind her, stoic in expression as he looked around. Just from the way his eyes moved, I could tell he was fresh from living. Carmilla turned to look at him, softening her gaze as her entire demeanor changed. This man…I will never forget how he looked at my sister and attempted to go after her in the church that day.
“Dorian Holmes, one of Aunt Willa’s half-baked creations,” Lovely muttered before rolling her eyes. “Also known as Carmilla’s lover…”
“Oh?” I said, flicking the cigarette to the ground as I immediately walked over. “He has our last name as more of a brand? I still smell the low-life human on his breath.”
“Bellamy, nice to see you too,” Milly said with a protective hand on his chest. “Dorian this is Bellamy…You two haven’t met–––”
“Is my sister still of interest to you?” I questioned with a tilt of my head to the side. Dorian’s stoned expression broke with a sneering smirk as a peek of his fangs appeared.
“I only have eyes for my Carmilla,” he said, voice deep and husky.
“Not everything is about that bitch,” Milly spat.
“Dorian Holmes…Where is his collar? Is he fixed? Does he still taste human to you?” I asked. Carmilla glared at me.
“Do not start, Bellamy. You sent the invitation to Lovely, and she made sure we–––”
The sound of howling suddenly broke out. We all turned our attention towards the forest with the fog settling on the ground. Seth said he would come and get me when it was time but for now, it was just the packs gathering and getting settled.
“I can’t believe we’re doing this,” Carmilla muttered. “How do we know we’re not walking into our own trap? I want nothing to do with First Family drama–––”
“You know Marvin is arrested and you all still remained in hiding?”
“As did you,” Milly accused. “I don’t care what happens to him. He’s your grandfather, not mine.”
