Flynn shifts and the buzz of the vibrator starts up again.

My eyes flick open. “No, no. No more.”

“Shh, it’s okay. I’ve got you.”

I whimper but Flynn turns the vibrator to its lowest setting and finds just the right spot, resting it above my abused clit and letting the soft vibrations roll through me. Gentle waves of pleasure waterfall from my head to my toes, building slowly until I reach my peak.

Flynn looks down at me, watching as my arousal heightens and my core tightens. “That’s it. Come for me, Lilac.”

His words unlock something and I gasp, my breath hitching as my climax thunders through me like a quiet storm.

My core throbs, aftershocks pulsing between my legs. My eyes flutter shut again and it’s all I can do to stay awake as Flynn undresses me and tucks me under the covers.

Sleep is dragging me under but I force myself to lift my heavy lids. “Don’t go,” I say as he straightens up.

Flynn tugs off his shirt with one hand and climbs back onto the bed. “Not going anywhere, beautiful.”

I relax into the pillow and curl up on my side.

Flynn’s hand settles on my thigh, and I blink my eyes open to look at his unfairly beautiful face. A face that’s far too serious.

“Hazel, I need you to listen to me.”

“I’m listening,” I mumble.

“You need to stay away from that part of my life, do you understand? No more investigating.”

I’m too tired to argue with him right now so I just murmur my agreement as my eyes drift shut. The second Flynn presses a kiss to my forehead I’m out like a light.

I don’t know how long I sleep but it’s still dark outside when I wake.

Flynn’s asleep on the bed next to me, one arm thrown above his head, his other hand still resting on my thigh. The comforter has slipped down and for a moment I just gaze at the hard planes of his bare chest. A thin trail of dark hair disappears beneath his jeans, the sharp V of his hips making me feel things. I sort of want to stay looking at him forever but the longer I’m awake the harder reality sets in. I’m sharing a bed with a killer.

I roll onto my back and stare at the ceiling. I try to process everything that happened last night. The way Flynn touched me. The way I let him. He may have been trying to get me to talk but I’d be a fool to believe that was anything other than an excuse. He wouldn’t have stayed if it didn’t mean anything. It wouldn’t have felt like it did if it didn’t mean anything.

But itcan’tmean anything.

I cannot have feelings for a serial killer.

I sit up and ease Flynn’s hand off my leg, my gaze lingering on the skull and rose tattoo. I’m debating whether I should kickhim out when his phone buzzes on the bedside table and I realize that’s what woke me up.

I drag my lip between my teeth. I should leave it, I’m not an idiot, I know that. I can’t help thinking though, that while Flynn got answers out of me, I still have nothing but questions.

Screw it.

I lean over Flynn, placing my hand on the other side of his chest so I can reach the phone. The mattress shifts underneath me and Flynn stirs. I freeze, my breath loud in the quiet room, but he doesn’t wake.

I don’t know the code but apparently Flynn’s not worried about privacy because the messages show up on the lock screen when I tap it.

Brother dearest

Where are you?

Brother dearest

I looked up the names you gave me. I may have a lead on the senator.

I put the phone down and glance over at Flynn. He looks so peaceful lying in my bed. So innocent. It’s hard to remember that he’s not.
