It wasn’t until Dex was in the locker room, changing into his uniform that his phone chimed with their response.

Don’t act like you don’t like it.

They won their game against Gluttony by two points, which cemented their spot in the play-offs in a few weeks. And if they worked hard and got lucky, they’d make it to the finals and hopefully walk away with the championship title in September. The team celebrated in the locker room, but Dex was more interested in getting to Cya’s place for their sex date than chest-bumping his teammates.

After the perfunctory celebrations died down, Dex showered, cleaning thoroughly without being weird about it in front of his teammates. He blow-dried and dressed quickly, then sprinted to the tram stop. He texted Cya that he was on his way as he waited for the tram to arrive, but the message went unread.

Twenty minutes later, he stood outside Cya’s house. The gate was open, so he headed to the front door and rang the bell. Since their house was ginormous, he gave them time to get there, but when two full minutes had passed, he rang again. When that resulted in the same, he pulled out his phone and called them.

They picked up on the third ring, and he said, “Um, I’m at your front door.”

“Oh shit!” Something clattered, and the speaker crackled. “Sorry, I was in my workshop and lost track of time.I’ll be right there.”

The line went dead, and the front door opened a minute later. Cya smiled sheepishly in apology as they moved aside to let him in, and Dex entered, giving them an appreciative onceover.

They were dressed in a two-piece outfit that did things to his heart rate. Stretched around their hips was a cream-colored skirt, and they wore a dark pink, spaghetti-strap crop top that ended in stylish tatters mere inches under their tiny breasts.

The chain connecting their belly ring to their nipples was gone, replaced with a simple barbell with dark pink jewels winking in their navel. As always, their arms were graced with gold bangles and bands, and their hair was knotted in a messy bun, wavy strands hanging loose around their face.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to ignore you. I just got caught up in—never mind. Hello.” They smiled almost bashfully as they closed the door behind him, turning the deadbolt.

“It’s no biggie,” he said, fighting every hormonal urge he had to tackle the sexy Sypent to the ground and kiss their face off. “I was only, like, ten percent worried that you’d already gotten yourself a new Lupyn boyfriend to replace me.”

They leaned back against the door with a withering stare. “You say that like I have a fetish or something.”

“Hey, I ain’t judging.” He dropped his duffel to the marble floor and held up his palms in surrender as he swaggered toward them. “If you got a fur fetish, baby, I got you covered.”

“You’re an idiot,” they said without any heat, and he snorted.

“Can this idiot kiss you?” he asked as he pressed his hands to the door on either side of their head, boxing them in.

Teeth capturing their bottom lip, they pretended to ponder a moment before they nodded. “I suppose that’s acceptable.”

“Acceptable? Wow, curb the enthusiasm, would you?”

“Shut up, and kiss me,” they grumbled, grabbing his face and yanking him in.

Dex went all too willingly, capturing their lips hungrily as he dropped his hands to their bare waist. Their skin was so soft and smooth, and he curved one hand around to their lower back, pressing to their spine. With a sigh, Cya melted against him, slipping their arms around his neck as their chests met.

They tasted like fancy herbs he didn’t have names for and mint tea and something smoky, like the incense they smelled like. Dex was already obsessed with it, ravenous for it, and he growled in satisfaction when Cya parted their lips to grant him more access. He licked into their mouth, and they met him, sinuous tongue dancing with his.

Not wanting to get carried away too quickly, he softened the kiss, slowing it down, then he ghosted smaller, sweeter kisses to the corner of their mouth, their jaw, the spot between their eyes. Then he rested his forehead on theirs as they both caught their breath.

“Hey,” he said.

“Hey,” they said.

Then they both laughed.

“What were you doing just now?” he asked as he traced their ribs with his thumbs. “You said something about a workshop.”

“Oh, it’s where I make my jewelry and tumble my rocks,” they said dismissively. “It’s nothing.”

“It’s not nothing. That sounds cool. Can I see?”

Genuine surprise played over their features. “Really?”

“Um, shyeah.” He kissed them again, then stepped back so they could lead the way. “Show me your workshop.”
