I sighed heavily, staring up at the ceiling. “Of course I do.”

CASSIDY

“Ooh, there he is,”Cheyenne hissed, smacking my arm as I studied the diner menu.

“Who?” Looking up at the door, I watched in amusement as Archer strode in with JR not far behind. Josie was on his heels, rushing over to sit across from us, her face brimming with excitement.

“Did you hear?”

I ignored her comment and watched as the guys took a seat on the other side of the diner. “Aren’t you going to sit with your husband?”

“He’s got Archer.”

“Right, but isn’t that weird?”

“Not really. If I sat over there, then I would have to take Cheyenne with me, and she’d moon over Archer the whole time.”

“Hey!”

“It’s the truth,” Josie said pointedly.

“It’s not my fault he keeps giving me mixed signals.”

I glanced over at the man, who was basically ignoring everyone. “I’ve never seen him give you any signals.”

“Well, not in public,” Cheyenne sighed. “But there are times when I’ll catch him staring at me.”

“He’s not staring at you. He’s glowering because you won’t stop staring at him,” Josie pointed out.

Cheyenne snorted in amusement. “That’s not at all what’s happening here. See, he’s ignoring me because he wants me so much. I bet you anything, if I were to walk over to any man in here and start flirting, you’d see a reaction.”

I looked around the diner, trying to find someone worth flirting with. “Well, Bud is sitting alone,” I grinned.

Cheyenne narrowed her eyes at me. “Bud the druggist? He’s ancient!”

“And yet, I bet he would be very interested in flirting with you,” I laughed.

“That wouldn’t draw a reaction from Archer. Obviously, Bud isn’t a threat.”

“Obviously,” I nodded, still laughing internally about the whole thing.

“Ooh, what about Jack?”

We all turned in our seats to the lonely man sitting at the counter. “Poor Jack. He used to be such a happy guy.”

“Well, having your girlfriend killed by a drunk driver will do that to you,” Josie said sadly.

“God, that’s depressing,” Cheyenne muttered. “And not at all who I would hit on just to get a rise out of Archer.”

I scanned some more, settling on the perfect target. “Sawyer,” I grinned.

“My brother?” Josie gasped. “Are you kidding?”

“Yeah, not that I don’t like him, but I really don’t want to be his next victim.”

“Hey!” Josie snapped.
