Nick leaned in, dropped a kiss on her inner thigh. “Looks like you weren’t exaggerating.” He drew his finger along the length of her, teased her with a hint of penetration. “Hold on, sweetheart. Time for a bit of payback.”

Sloane inhaled at the lethal gleam in his eyes, the way he looked at her as if he’d been waiting a lifetime to get her spread out beneath him, more than just her skin laid bare. And when he leaned forward, swept his tongue along her flesh…

Stars exploded behind her eyes, her stomach jumping as heat raced across her skin, her body a touch away from falling off the edge.

Nick looked at her across her chest, a smug smile tilting her lips. “Is it just me, or are you a hair away from shouting my name?” He made another pass, nearly had her finishing on the spot. “Hmm. Guess it’s not just me.”

She huffed, fisted one hand in his hair with every intention of yanking him toward her, having him thrust inside, when he slipped his finger inside her, started moving. Her head fell back, her other hand locked in the blankets as each thrust pushed her higher. She closed her eyes, opening wider, needing just a few more passes to get her to that peak, when he latched his mouth onto her, started licking.

Heat punched through her, all her nerves coiling tight until they snapped, sent her careening over the other side. She cried out a ragged, “Yes,” locking her thighs around his massive shoulders as she rode out her release, everything shaking, her fingers finally falling from Nick’s hair.

A telling silence settled over the room, nothing but their ragged breathing sounding above the ocean. Sloane drifted, heat still pumping through her veins, Nick’s comforting weightsoothing the rawness churning inside her. The one that, despite the mind-numbing orgasm, needed more.

More skin.

More heat.

More Nick.

She finally managed to pry open her eyelids, stare up at him as he traced lines across her body. He frowned whenever he brushed across a scar. She touched his face, beckoned him down to her with a hint of pressure. He nuzzled her neck, kissing his way to her mouth before slanting his lips over hers, taking her right back to the edge as his tongue slipped inside, tangled with hers.

Salvation.

That’s what he tasted like.

The future she’d hoped they’d find.

Nick smiled at her as he shifted overtop, elbows bracketing her ribcage, every hot inch of him pressing against her. He rested his forehead on hers, blew out a rough breath. “So, protection…”

She arched a brow. “Something tells me you don’t have any.”

“Not unless my Sig counts. And I doubt Tierney keeps an emergency stash in her off-grid safehouse.” He blew out a rough breath. “I wasn’t thinking… I mean, we bugged out so quickly, and I didn’t have my wallet in my sweats…”

Sloane silenced him as she wrapped her arms around his neck, smiled. “I’ve always been safe with you. And I’ve got one of those implants, so…” She levered up kissed him. “If you trust me, and you’re still up for pounding me into this shitty mattress, just… shut up and make love to me.”
