My little macaroni snafu cost my paycheck dearly, and after taking out money for food, I had a measly eight dollars to add to The Noah Fund. It wasn’t until Teresa and I trudged down the dorm hallway after catering that I pulled my still-slightly-sticky phone from its home in my waistband. A text from Finn’s newly changed name sat unread waiting for me.
Potentially Not a Criminal: Did you like the kiss?
I rolled my eyes and barely stopped a smile from breaking out as I typed back.
Emma: It was delicious.
Potentially Not a Criminal: Just wait until you taste the next one.
Emma: Finn…
Potentially Not a Criminal: Check your back pocket, Cupcake.
Raising my brow at his forwardness, I pulled the Milky Way out of my left pocket as Teresa unlocked our door. The relief was short lived as I slipped my fingers into the other pocket, though. There was a lump that hadn’t been there when I’d gotten dressed this afternoon. I pulled it out, and my breath faltered as another Hershey’s Kiss sat innocently atop my palm.
I racked my brain for a time when Finn would’ve had the opportunity to slip this on my person, but it came up blank. It unnerved me that he’d been able to drop something in my pocket without me even being slightly aware of it, even if he was a magician.
Had he touched my butt?
Trailing in behind Teresa, I tossed the Milky Way on my desk and sat on the edge of my comforter. Studying the newest prize, my fingers made quick work of its wrappings before popping the Kiss into my mouth.
This one had caramel in it, and it may have been the best kiss I’d ever had.
Not that Finn deserved to know that.
Emma: Magicians are sneaky. I’m going to have to keep an eye on you.
Potentially Not a Criminal: Please do. I love a challenge. ;)
CHAPTER27
A Black Coffee
Dear Diary,
I need help. Here are the facts:
I’m going on another date with Noah today. (Watching sports still counts as a date, right?)
Finn is still being all flirty.
Oliver Bishop gave me his number. Yes,theOliver Bishop.
Three guys. One Emma.
Maybe I should’ve paid more attention in math class because the numbers just aren’t adding up.
Taking things one day at a time,
Emma

Potentially Not a Criminal: Third lesson in all things magic: always leave the audience wanting more.
Emma: And how do I do that?
