I couldn’t help myself. I wrapped my hand around the back of his neck—delighting in the feel of goose bumps spreading across his skin where I touched him—before pulling his head back down so I could get another taste.

CHAPTER28

A Heart

Sunday night

Emma: Thanks for taking me to the basketball game today. I had a blast. :)

Noah (Bae) Kincaid: So did I. Thank you for accompanying me.

Emma: And thanks for the kiss, too.

Emma: Or should I say kisses?

Noah: No thanks necessary.

Emma: You’re right, but I’ll still thank you again later. ;)

Later that night

Emma:

Teresa: … Did you really just send me an infographic on why Red Vines are better than Twizzlers?

Emma: I couldn’t live another moment without you knowing the truth.

Teresa: Oh, Emma. I’m staying over at Stacie’s tonight with the team, so I hope you don’t get too bored.

Emma: Are you kidding? There’s still a few hours left of the crime show marathon this weekend. I’m set.

Monday

Noah: Slade cancelled Music Theory this morning. How does breakfast sound?

Emma: Oh no! Did he say why? Maybe he got food poisoning from those tacos they were giving out on the quad last night.

Emma: And breakfast sounds great.

Noah: He sent us an email citing jury duty. There’s a café on Melrose Avenue we haven’t tried yet if you’re interested.

Emma: Do you know if they have chocolate chip waffles?

Noah: I already called, and they do.

Emma: You called ahead to see if they have waffles? Wow. You’re a keeper.

Noah: They’ll even add whipped cream in a smiley face pattern if you order from the children’s menu.

Emma: Stop. A woman can only take so much sweet talk.

Noah: I’ll pick you up in 15?

Emma: Yes, sir, and good luck scraping me off the floor from where I melted into a puddle.

Noah: Did I mention the café has eighteen different flavors of macchiatos?
