Her long, throaty moan coincided with her pulsing and squeezing around my dick with an iron grip. She tilted her head back and inhaled sharply as her orgasm crashed through her.

I followed right after, thrusting almost brutally into her as she quivered around me.

Beeping woke me up.I took in my surroundings and realized I was lying on the couch in the office at the Watering Hole. I was in a sitting position up against the back of the couch, my feet resting on the coffee table in front of me. Tammy was pressed up against my side, wearing only her unbuttoned shirt, bra, and underwear. I had my jeans and underwear on but no shirt.

The beeping finally stopped, and it registered what it was—the back door alarm.

Shit.

“Tammy, wake up,” I whispered, nudging her.

She shook her head and moaned, but I used my hand to cover her mouth.

That got her attention right away. She jerked back and looked at me, startled.

“Someone’s here,” I whispered quickly, giving her the universal sign to be quiet. “The back door was opened and started beeping. Someone’s inside. Pants.”

I pointed at her jeans on the ground, hoping she got the message loud and clear to put them on as quickly and as quietly as she could. I stood up and took a few steps to the desk, where I had left my phone.

As soon as I picked it up, Tammy grabbed my arm. There’s a gun in my purse, she mouthed to me, nodding in the direction of the desk chair where her purse was located.

I nodded and walked around to grab it. We had no idea who was out there or if there was more than one person, so having a little bit of protection was good.

I reached into her bag, lifted out the small pistol she had in there, and handed it to her. I was a skilled marksman and could shoot many different kinds of weapons, but an owner knew their gun better than anyone.

She reached for it but tripped, banging her knee into the side of the desk. Outside of the loud thump of her bone connecting with the wood, she didn’t make a sound. Her face showed some pain, but she kept her reaction silent.

The damage was done, however, as whoever was on the other side of the office likely heard the bump and knew they weren’t alone. There was a crash just outside the door—the sound of pots and pans clanging together or falling.

Tammy and I both rushed to the door. I opened it slowly as she drew her gun. My gaze flicked left and right, scanning the dimly lit kitchen. She had left one set of lights on while we were in the office, but not all three. Still, it was lit well enough for us to see the kitchen and prep space. It was also lit well enough to see the back door closing the last few inches.

Whoever was here had just left. The back door automatically closed, but it was a slow close.

Tammy lurched forward, likely to go investigate, but I pulled her arm back and whispered, “Wait. We don’t know if there are others.”

She nodded and spoke quietly in return. “I’m going to the alarm panel to hit the police button. It will be the fastest way to call them here.”

I had my phone with me—I had planned to call 911 before Tammy had bumped her knee and the criminals made their hasty and loud exit—but her way was certainly faster.

I followed her as she traveled the twenty feet to the alarm panel and watched her hit a few buttons. She leaned over and flipped the deadbolt on the back door, effectively preventing anyone from coming through that door again.

“Grab some of the kitchen knives or anything from here you want to use as a weapon and we can go out into the main pub space,” she whispered to me.

The swinging door from the kitchen to the main room opened into a completely dark space, except for the small amount of moonlight that shone in through the two vertical sidelight windows by the front door.

We both slowly eased into the space, scanning the room for any movement. We advanced fluidly as though we were acting out a perfectly coordinated and planned mission. Two minutes—one hundred and twenty seconds—and we found nothing. The front door was still locked from the inside, and the space looked untouched.

“I think we’re clear,” Tammy whispered to me.

I nodded just as the sound of sirens wailed in the background.

“Alright, now that the cops are gone, why don’t you give us the full story,” Archer said.

We were all crammed into the office space together—Archer, Vince, Wade, Tammy, and me.
