She tried to peek further into the house, but I blocked her view and scowled. “Excuse me, a woman never kisses and tells.”

She laughed. “Right, of course. Apologies, madame.” She pretended to tip an invisible hat, and I rolled my eyes but failed to hide a smile.

“Well, since it’s obvious that you’re alive and entertaining company… I’ll be on my way. Goodnight, doll. Have fun and call me later. I want to know all the juicy details.” She winked.

“Good night.” And I shut the door, double-checking it was locked.

I was such an idiot! I should have known she’d come to check on me. If I didn’t answer my phone after a storm, she always dropped by.

That was way too close for comfort. I felt like a horrible friend for not remembering, but when I was with Drea, all rational thoughts flew out the window.

I picked up the clothes while heading back to my room, where Drea was lying, covers off, naked in all of her caramel gloriousness…

“I was right, it was Cara.” I let out a relieved breath. “She was just checking in after the storm.”

“How sweet of her,” she said softly as she pulled me into the bed with her.

I giggled when she began kissing my neck. “Drea, it’s time for you to go now.” I didn’t sound very convincing as I moaned out my demand.

The last thing I wanted was for her to leave. I had zero regrets, just as I told her I wouldn’t, but I knew it wouldn’t be a good idea for her to stay.

“You never answered my question earlier. I could get back on the wagon, or I could stay here, far away from the wagon.”

I moaned when she sucked at my collarbone. “Drea, I…” I let out a shaky breath, trying not to get distracted by what her mouth was currently doing. “I think it’s best if both you and your wagon go home. As spectacular as this was, it can’t happen again.”

I shouldn’t have groaned in protest at the loss of contact between us. It was my words that caused it to end.

She stopped and sat up again. “I know,” she begrudgingly said as she took one last look at my body.

She kissed me softly, and I wanted to kick myself as I watched her perfect naked body leave my bed. I threw on a night shirt and walked her to the door after she got dressed.

“So, this is me,” Drea teased with a grin, pointing to the front door.

I laughed. “I guess it is. Thank you again for today.” I smiled.

She took a step closer and pulled me by my shirt. “You’re very welcome, and thank you for the orgasms, love.” She kissed me passionately, and I held on a little too tightly, refusing to let it end so quickly.

She broke the kiss, and I was out of breath as she turned around and left. I brought my hand to my mouth, still feeling her lips, demanding myself not to call after her.

After a very cold shower, I slid into bed when my phone went off with a text notification:

Cara: Is your mysterious date still there?

Me: She just left.

Cara: Wow, I didn’t expect you to be the casual type.

I groaned.

Me: I’m not.

Cara: So you have someone special in your life and didn’t tell me?! I am hurt! ??

Me: It was one time, Cara. I don’t know what’s going to happen.

Cara: What do you want to happen? Do you have feelings for this woman?

I froze. I didn’t know what to say to her. I couldn’t lie to her—she was my best friend—but I also couldn’t be totally honest with her. If she ever found out about Drea… It was one time. She wouldn’t find out.
