She turned into his arms, setting the plate on the counter. “You’re a masterpiece.”

“If you keep talking to me like that, I’ll grow a big head,” he warned.

She blinked as her eyes lit up and she reached for his cock, swiping at the tip. “Oops, I think you already have.”

“Grrr,” he growled out, feeling the twinge of his cock in her hand.

“You need to eat,” he chided. “Did you like your small taste of spanking?”

“Oh, yes. I see why the heroines in my book tend to act naughtily,” she replied.

“After dinner, how about we clean up the dishes and take a shower? I think I’d rather enjoy my dessert in there,” he suggested, not wanting to take her to the bedroom where Sam’s picture sat beside the bed.

“We can arrange that,” she said, taking her plate from the microwave and heating his. “Can we eat outside? It’s a beautiful night, and the sun’s setting.”

Walking over to his shirt, Liam picked it up off the floor and tugged it over her head. He slid into his jeans as the microwave beeped. He saw the curves of her ass as she leaned forward to get his plate. His cock ached, and his heart pounded as if it told him Addy was his.

Addyson saton Liam’s lap outside, feeding him bits of chicken from her plate. He, in turn, fed her while they took in the beautiful sunset.

“Are you cold?” he asked between bites.

“No. Your body heat’s keeping me warm,” she replied, feeding him asparagus.

“Thank you for trusting me,” Liam said as he popped a small potato in her mouth. “I’ll never hurt you, Addy.”

“I know,” she said. “We only have one problem. You’ll have to compete with another male.”

He stiffened at her words.

“Zeus doesn’t like to share. He was here first and deserves the first choice on where to sit on the couch,” she teased.

“You find it funny, do you?” he said as his hands rode up his shirt, tickling her.

“Yes, I do,” she screeched. Her laughter echoed in the trees behind them.

She didn’t recall ever feeling this free. The man beside her turned her world upside down, and she loved every minute they spent together. For once, Addy didn’t worry about schedules, keeping everything neat, or acting like a guest in her own home. Liam made her feel important and cherished. Her feelings for him grew, and her heart felt lighter with each passing day. Sam’s face floated in her mind, sobering her. It didn’t seem as perfectas it usually did. The image appeared frayed and slightly blurred. Maybe Liam held the key to her new future.

CHAPTER 17

Leo helpedCatherine into their house and led her to their bedroom.

“No,” she said. “This will probably be the only time I get to watch a show with some peace and quiet. I love our kids, but right now, I want to veg out in front of the TV, not have to cut up anyone’s food, find any homework, repack a diaper bag, or clean up a diaper.”

Grimacing, he helped her to the couch, handed her the remote, and covered her with a blanket. Entering the kitchen, he filled up her water bottle and took it to her. Hoping to find her a pair of cozy pajamas, he went to their bedroom. Piles of clothes lay in baskets on the floor, meant for the washing machine. He picked up a load and tossed it in, then returned to search for her PJs.

“Do you want to change?” he asked, carrying in a nightgown and a robe.

“I’m too tired right now,” she said. “I’m sorry I didn’t get the laundry done. When I didn’t have to puke my guts out, Derrick decided to smear crap on the wall, and Grace threw a tantrum because I bathed him first. Melody got mad at me for not helping her with her lines for the school play until I finished. By then, she forgot to tell me about the fundraiser at school, and I needed two dozen cupcakes. I ended up rushing to Bryanna’s first thing in the morning to buy them from the bakery. Of course, Melody and Grace pitched a fit when I didn’t let them get a treat from Aunt Bryanna,” Catherine said, shaking her head.

“Why didn’t you call me?” he asked, feeling tired while listening to her day.

“Because even if I did, you’d have something going on with the team and show up when I finished everything,” she bit out. “I’m sorry. Don’t listen to me. I’m pregnant and crabby.”

“We still need to discuss this. You’ve entered your second trimester. Have you decided on what you want to do?”

Sighing, Kit Kat gazed at him. “I have no idea. The more you’re gone, the angrier I get about this. Leo, you missed the one freaking appointment I asked you not to forget.”
