Staring.

We take our time appreciating one another, until my gaze hits his lush mouth.

The tip of my tongue passes over my lips.

“Stop looking at me like that.” His voice is filled with need.

“Like what?”

“Like you want to kiss me.”

I step closer. “Then stop staring at me like you might let me.”

He inches toward me, our chests brushing together. “Oh, I’d definitely let you.”

“Have you wondered what it’d be like?” My hands lift on their own accord, tracing the dips and curves of his shoulders.

“I think you know the answer to that question.” His large hands slide around my lower back, pulling me close to close the gap between us so we’re flush against one another. His hardness presses against me. “Tell me, did you make yourself come the other night after you heard me?”

My nails skate along his collar bone. “I didn’t.”

His head dips down, his mouth hovering dangerously close over mine. “Aren’t you dying to give in to it?”

My lips part, adrenaline coursing through me. “No.”

Landon shakes his head, slow and deliberate. “Liar.”

I arch a brow. “If you want it so bad, then why haven’t you made a move?”

“Because I’m gonna need to hear you say it first.” He moves forward, edging me backward. “I’m gonna need you to tell me exactly what you want me to do to you, because I don’t want there to be any misunderstanding later.” He guides me until the backs of my legs hit his dresser, his hands coming up to tip my chin, angling my mouth toward his. “Later, when you regret this and try to blame me, there won’t be an inkling of a doubt in your mind.Youaskedmeto kiss you.” His nose brushes mine. “So, I’m gonna need you to use your words.”

“Worried your skills won’t be up to par, and I’ll regret it?” It’s a feeble attempt at a taunt, barely any power behind my words. He’s distracting me, with his thumb tracing the outline of my mouth.

“I know how much you love being in charge, Ainsley.” He smirks. “Tell me what to do.”

My body screams at me to give in. Desire dulls my senses, and my defenses weaken.

I shouldn’t.

It’ll complicate things.

But God do I want to...

Fuck it.

I tug on the hair at the back of his head, needing some semblance of control. “Kiss me, Landon, and make it good.”

The words are barely out before Landon’s mouth crashes into mine. Clutching my jaw in his hands, he tilts my head and sweeps his tongue between my lips. I open for him, and his tongue surges inside, searching for mine. I grip onto him and match his demanding urgency, fusing our mouths together in a scorching kiss.

As if he can’t get close enough, Landon grabs me by my thighs and lifts me onto the dresser. Whatever’s on top clatters to the floor without a care as I wrap my legs around him, locking him against me. We both groan at the feel of each other, his incredible hardness pressed against the spot I’m throbbing for him most.

With one hand squeezing my hip, Landon uses his other to yank on the scrunchie holding up my ponytail, freeing my hair. He wraps my long strands around his fist and groans into my mouth as our tongues entwine. He’s ravenous, feasting on me like he’s gasping for his last breath.

I’m kissing Landon Fletcher.

After all these years, all the history between us, tethered by the same emotions that never dissipated. Like a lighthouse weathering a storm, the wind and waves battered us, eroding who we were. But we’re still standing, still here in the same spot. Everything changed, yet nothing ever did.

I’m kissing Landon Fletcher.
