Any other deal, I’d have been champing at the bit, but we were having such a nice time in the city, the days had flown. But now that it was closed, it was time to get back to work. My omega and I had things to do and, unfortunately, if we wanted to get the resort changed over, we couldn’t do it entirely from bed.
Before we left the city, we spent one more evening at Cuffed, and this time, we used one of the more advanced stations for our spanking session. I had a feeling within a couple of years, he’d be wanting to do things I’d never even considered. And I couldn’t wait. But those things would take place in our new club, right smack dab in the middle of the resort. I’d initially considered using some of the first-floor spaces within the hotel building, but Talon and crew had gotten me thinking of alternatives. It would take longer to build from the ground up but would give me an opportunity to have a portion of this resort exactly the way I wanted it. My investment in Cuffed and Crowned was a small percentage of SEA. The experience the others brought to the table was invaluable.
The next morning, we boarded a jet for our trip back to the resort. Ches was much more comfortable with the journey this time, and even joked that we should join the mile-high club.
“I wish we could, omega, but not in this craft. If we can see the pilots, they can see us.”
“Oh, that’s right.” He giggled. “Maybe some other time.”
This omega who had never been with an alpha at all before we met had blossomed into one who embraced lovemaking to the point where he wanted to be with me on an airplane. I’d never bought my own plane because it truly wasn’t a good use of money for me, but once we got the resort up and running, I was definitely going to look into it. But, for that day, we contented ourselves with cuddling and making out whenever the pilot allowed us to take off our seat belts.
Then, of course, we had the helicopter ride to look forward to.
He had the best time, again enjoying the view but this time chatting with the pilot over the provided headsets and asking him how to learn to fly one of these things. Listening, I loved how quickly he adapted but hoped he wouldn’t become a helicopter pilot. Yes, they were generally safe, but not safe enough for my omega to be in every day. Plus, I’d miss him if he was off flying all the time. But I wanted him to have everything he chose in life, so no way would I do anything to discourage his plans.
The flight was a little bumpy this time, the desert winds making us bounce a bit, and I hoped that might make helicopter piloting sound a little bit less interesting. Only time would tell.
Back at the hotel, I climbed out first and held up a hand to help him down to the ground. “Fun ride, wasn’t it?”
“It was until we hit that turbulence. Do you think they run into that a lot?”
“I don’t know, but it’s pretty windy out here, so maybe. You’d have to ask the pilot.”
“No,” he said, letting me take his hand and starting off toward the villa. “He’s probably tired of answering questions. So, what do we need to do first? Let’s get this kink resort going!”
I tried not to look too relieved that at least for now, he’d moved on from piloting helicopters. If he wanted to learn, I’dmake sure he did, but I sure hoped he would only want to do it recreationally. If that was even a thing.
We strolled toward the villa, leaving our bags for staff to handle. Ches had reached for them, but I stopped him. As the mate of the owner and, as soon as my lawyers could handle it, an owner himself, he would have to learn how to let others do their jobs for him.
“First thing, I’m going to need to get some professionals in here. An architect to work on plans for the new club, designers, all sorts of people. We will also need to see which of the employees will be comfortable with our new format. I believe the place is already understaffed and the fine folks at Cuffed have offered to help us find more people who will be a good fit.”
“Who wouldn’t want to work in this place, especially after you put so much work and money into it?”
“You were at Cuffed and you saw how comfortable people were with nudity and open in their sexuality. Even for shifters, it’s a stretch, and we would never want to have people working here who felt insecure or unhappy about our guests’ lifestyle, right?”
“Right.” Ches chuckled. “Once upon a time, as of a few days ago, even, I’d have been pretty weirded out, but now? I feel like telling everyone you need to try something new and see what you find out about yourself.”
“Well said, omega! So, go pack your things and have a staff member carry them all over here. That is, if you’d like to live with me?”
“There’s no place I’d rather be.” He jogged out the door, calling over his shoulder, “And when I get back, I have some ideas for themed rooms.”
Those omegas really had talked to him.
Chapter Twenty-Three
Ches
I hadn’t missed the irony that our time back at the resort was busier than ever. This place had never been a source of relaxation and reprieve from life for me. It was work. Hard, day in and day out, work.
But now, my work was fun. Running me ragged, but fun.
Grant promoted me to creative marketing and design. Big words for an even bigger parameter of work. I handled everything from approving colors for the rooms to design models and even the fonts for the new labels. And I went to meetings. Goddess, I never knew that owners and investors went to so many damned meetings.
But each one had some importance, and Grant made sure we got to the point and didn’t waste time sitting at a boardroom table when there were piles of work to be done.
I made the mistake of joking about how many steps I got in a day, and Grant took that funny moment as a personal request for a fancy watch that integrated with my phone and told me exactly how many steps I took.
Still, I bet it was less than when I was a room service attendant.
