Rook parked the bike and got off, heading inside without a glance back at me, but I caught up to him fast.
“You shouldn’t be following me, Regan. You won’t like anything that you learn.”
He swung the door open, and I ran inside, following after him into the front of a motorcycle shop. Maverick Moto. It had been on my list, but I had found Rook first. I glanced around. The place was nicer than I had been expecting. No one would know the terrible things the people who ran it did.
“You’ve been stalking me. It’s only fair that I stalked you a little,” I said, nearly yelling as he walked behind the counter.
He turned, the rage on his face making my mouth go dry. He was fast, stepping around the counter and behind me before I could say another word. One arm wrapped hard around my waist, the other hand clamped over my mouth as he walked me through the back door into an open garage, my legs nearly off the ground as we went.
“If you’re going to be in my life, you are going to have to learn more discretion,” he hissed. “I’ve already made this clear.”
I bit at his hand, but he didn’t react, so I bit down harder.
“That will do nothing, Rebel. Well, not nothing, but I don’t think your desired effect is getting my dick hard. Are you going to keep your mouth shut now?”
I nodded, and he finally dropped his hand. I threw my elbow back, hitting him in the sternum, which gave me a second to break free and face him.
“Who said I wanted to be in your life?”
He shook his head and clutched his chest for a second before that dark, menacing smile twisted back on his face.
“You did when you stalked me. You are such a brat. And unfortunately for you, I like when you get rough,” he said, grabbing me again. He spun me, leaning down and throwing me over his shoulder before I had a second to react.
The skirt I was wearing fell to the side, leaving one leg exposed to him. I couldn’t see him, but I felt the moment he turned and bit down on my thigh.
I yelled out, the pain radiating before he kissed it once. “Sorry, baby. Those damn intrusive thoughts won when I saw this beautiful ass.”
He stopped, bouncing me once to readjust his grip before heading back down the hall.
“Rook!” I yelled. He smacked my ass in response before setting me down. “What was that one for?”
“Stalking me.” He sat back behind a desk, watching me as I took in the room. His bike was parked in the corner of the office, and he eyed me as I walked towards it.
“Why is this in here?”
“I used a backup bike today because I was trying to not be recognized. And I don’t risk any client or customer walking in and fucking with my things while I’m gone. I don’t trust anyone who walks in here.”
“Including me?”
“I haven’t decided yet.”
“But you still let me come back here?”
“I didn’t have a choice when you’re yelling out my personal business.”
“So if I would have walked in and said hello, you wouldn’t have brought me back here?”
I reached out, ready to run my hand over the bike, but he stopped me.
“Touch my bike and I touch you.”
I felt brave. The way Rook always pushed me to be scared of him had worked—until now. My hand dropped, my fingers running along the handles to the tank.
“It’s honestly crazy how fast you go on this. No seatbelts, nothing around you to hold you in if you crash, but you willinglydo it.” I moved to the back, the small seat where I had sat looking as ridiculous as it felt under my ass. I still hadn’t sat where he usually did. I looked back over my shoulder at him, his face unreadable as he watched me, but I smiled.
“Why did I come home last night to find my favorite cookies on my bed?” I asked, lifting my skirt up and swinging my leg over the giant bike to hop into the seat. It was leaning to the side, the kickstand holding it up as I put my feet on the pegs.
He sat back in his chair, his eyes heavy and unwavering as they locked onto mine. The intensity in his gaze sent a shiver down my spine.
