Did my brother really have to have such horrible timing?
“Fuck. We need to go.”
“What? We aren’t done.”
He turned the phone to face me, an urgent text from Rook to get back to the shop asap for a job he and Aiden had to do last minute.
“He really can’t take someone else?”
“He thinks I’m already home with you. I doubt he expected us to make a stop along the way.”
“Aiden, come on, we—”
“Weneed to leave,” he added with a smile.
I shoved my helmet on, hiding my annoyance, and I zipped up my jacket. He looked down, frowning.
“I’m pretty sure you promised those would be out.”
“And I knew you would panic if I did,” I said, teasing him. “How would it look pulling up to the house with my boobs out, Aiden?”
His eyes went heavy, heat filling them as he looked down. The jacket covered everything, but it was clear he didn’t want it to.
I pulled at the zipper, inching it down as he watched.
The wanting made me hot all over again, my core tightening.
My hand threaded into his hair, bringing his head down until his mouth captured my nipple. He didn’t hesitate, pulling it into his mouth and rolling it gently with his teeth.
My head fell back, letting the pricking need for more wash over me. I yanked on his hair, forcing him to the next breast. He did it again, making me moan this time.
Devastation filled his eyes as I pulled him away.
“Looks like I’m going to have to keep them pressed on you now or they will freeze.”
“You know you can’t. Somebody is going to see us when we get home.”
“Like you could stop me.”
He shook his head. “I don’t call you psycho for nothing.”
“I know,” I said with a happy sigh. “I’m so glad you love it.”
My helmet slipped over my hair, sealing me in with my own thoughts as I swung on behind him.
I pressed forward, my breasts tight against his back and I felt him stiffen beneath me.
I leaned a little further, daring. He didn’t stop me. He couldn’t. And that, more than anything, made me feel alive.
Chapter 23
Shadow
The night was still, the heavy blanket of darkness settling over the cemetery like a shroud. I had been watching them for nearly an hour, hidden among the shadows, unseen and unnoticed as I followed far behind in my car. I had been surprised they hadn’t noticed, but who was I to question how good at this I am.
Aiden and Evie had been quiet at first, their movements slow and deliberate, almost respectful of where they were in relation to each other, but something at Syndicate had changed. And now, as the minutes passed, that respect evaporated, replaced by something else entirely. Something carnal and... disgusting.
My hands clenched at my sides as I watched Evie lean in closer to Aiden, her hand brushing his arm in a teasing, intimate way that made my blood boil. She thought she was so clever, so safe, didn’t she? Thought she could dig into things that weren’t hers to touch and still play around with him like she wasn’t being watched. Like she wasn’t being followed.
