When I glanced down at the bitch on the floor, he looked up at me with deathful fear. Even with the fear, I knew his asstold the truth. “I swear!” He grunted with his words. “Me and Yolanda were talking about how to get money. Travis said that you had a lot of money and that we could take it from you. Lil nigga said we just had to buy him a PS5.”
I nodded my head, lifted my gun, then put a bullet between his eyes. There was no more use for his ass. I pulled my phone out before I looked at Blake. “Go find that lil fuck nigga and his mama.”
Who Can You Trust . . .
Scott Chad McLeod was everything. I never knew men like him existed. I guess they lived in Chicago. Since we’d been in a relationship, it was like a crash course in how I was supposed to be treated.Oh my God! I’m in a relationship.
What I loved most about him was his patience with me. It was like he recognized that I may not know how to navigate certain aspects of a relationship. He didn’t fuss or cuss. We sat down and had a conversation about what it was, what it should have been then, and how it would be in the future. I had so much respect for that. My homegirls told me that I was simply with a real man.
After we announced our relationship to the crew, it didn’t take long to figure out that Seneca placed us together with hopes that sparks would fly. Between him and his wife, they were determined for me to find the man of my dreams. It seemed like I may have found him, or at least he was placed in my path. I only hoped that I was the woman of his dreams.
I knew one thing that felt like a dream, but it was all reality . . . that dick! The way he stretched me out and directed me through it was all that it was supposed to be. The dick was too amazing to be talked through. I needed to be directed through it. The right verb fucking mattered.
Pew!The bullet passed through the barrel and silencer of Scotty’s gun into the head of whoever the bitch nigga on the floor was. I stood there frozen for a second. What did he mean, Travis told him to set me up? I just couldn’t believe that.
“Go find that lil fuck nigga and his mama.” The anger in Scotty’s voice could not only be heard, but I felt it. He told me once that the most important thing to him, after loving me, was protecting me. As much as I was on my Ps and Qs, he showed me that I was on the lowercase letters while he was on the upper.
My eyes watched him for another brief second after he lifted the phone to his ear. I was certain that the call he made was to Seneca or Derrick. I moved to the back of the house as my gun led the way. I opened every door to scan every inch of the room.
This wasn’t my first time in this house. It was a small three-bedroom home, so there weren’t many places to hide. The last bedroom was Travis’s. Anger rose to my chest when I saw the signed poster of his favorite football player that I got for him. Hell, they could have sold that if they wanted money. Liam Christianson retired, so this was worth money.
My foot lifted, and I kicked the flimsy door in. When I walked in with my gun up, my heart hurt. Travis and his mother sat on the bed like they didn’t hear us in there. They must have beenleaning against the wall as they sat on the bed. There was a fucking bowl of popcorn between the two of them and a movie on the television.
“Ba-Blake! What are you doing here? Where is Stanley?” Travis asked with shock on his face and in his tone.
My heart broke, because at that moment, I knew. I knew that he really had a hand in this plan. There were no tears, and he was far from scared. Oh, and his mother, she didn’t appear high at all. My heart wanted to still see Travis as the little boy that I cared so much about, but I couldn’t. My soul knew that his ass was now my opposition.
“That’s what you ask me, Travis? Aren’t I the one you called and said you were scared of that bitch right there?” My gun aimed at Yolanda’s weirdo ass. We went to high school together, and she was trifling way back then. Travis wasn’t her first son, but her oldest son’s father had the sense to get him from up under her.
Travis jumped and covered his mother’s body with his. “Don’t shoot my fuckin’ mama, bitch!”
My head bucked back. Had I been that blind because of my love for kids to not see a demon? Yes, Travis got into shit, but he had always been respectful to me. When he got in trouble at school, they called me too.
I laughed. “Oh, I’m a bitch now? That’s funny. Yolanda, is this how your ho ass is raising him?”
“Blake, please. You act like you’d be missing money. Travis said you gave out money like candy, so shit.” She spoke like I really wouldn’t kill her ass.
My body turned to the side at the sound of footsteps. I knew if it wasn’t Scotty, then it was someone from our team. Scotty stepped into the room with Seneca not too far behind him. “You good, bae?” Scotty asked.
The disappointment was hard for me to hide. “Yeah, it looks like Stanley was right. Travis’s lil fuck ass set me up.”
Seneca shook his head. He knew Travis as well. “Damn, Travis, it’s like that? I thought we was all cool. That’s fucked up!”
Travis gawked at Seneca like he was a whole stranger. “I thought we were cool too. I asked Blake for a PS5, and she told me no. If we was cool, she woulda got it for me. Stanley said that him and my mama needed money, so I told them she had it. He said he was gonna get my PS5. She shoulda got me one.”
You had to be fucking kidding me. This couldn’t be life. There was such entitlement in his tone. “Lil nigga, I don’t gotta get you shit. You did all this because your ass wanted a PS5? You sentenced your mama to death behind a PS5?”
Travis’s face contorted. “Bitch, you not gonna do?—”
Pop! Pop!Yolanda’s body fell back against the bed after two bullets went into each eye. Who the fuck did he think I was? Travis’s eyes widened, and his breath hitched. My head tilted to the side. “Lil nigga, I’m not going to do what?”
Travis jumped from the bed. He charged toward me. “Bitch, I’ll kill you.”
Before he could get to me, Scotty scooped his ass up. When the butt of his gun hit Travis on the side of the head, my soul jumped. How could I still fucking care about his wellbeing when he was ready to let me die?
Scotty turned toward me with a passed-out Travis still in his arms. “Blake, go back to my place. I’ll be there soon.” When the bridge of my nose scrunched and jaw tightened, he took a step in my direction. In a much sterner tone, he spoke. “Blakeney, go the fuck back to my place. This is not up for a debate.”
My head turned slowly toward Seneca. He avoided eye contact with me. “You betta listen to your man, Blake. This ain’t the time. We got shit we need to handle here.”
