Romano slipped into the room. More often than not, her mate stayed by her side at the Mage Headquarters. It made things a bit difficult for Romano and the day-to-day running with his pack, but he’d lose his mind if he wasn’t beside her in case something went down. He was more comfortable with Pasquale being there and playing relay between them when needed.

The pale scars on his face stood out against his cheek, but it didn’t take away from his good looks. She was happy he would be here beside her. The way the Fae looked right now, she just knew this was about to be bad.

Ugly bad.

“The Zealot is called aKarnistalor, for us. The Unseelie tell tales of it,” Silva began.

“What sort of beast is it? Are you saying it’s from Fae lands?”

Silva nodded. “Kalinda … if she opened the road from Fae to the human world, there are untold creatures she can bring through. TheKarnistaloris fabled as the Balance Maker.”

Kalinda pressed her lips together and took a deep breath. “The one who holds it reigns, wins the war.”

A portal cracked open in the room, swirling with blue, purple, and red. A massive werewolf stepped through, a howl on his lips before Nanshe followed.

“We tried to warn you, but it wasn’t fast enough. Kalinda, she didn’t travel through the In Between. Skuld was hiding inSeraph.”

The Seelie Fae territory.

Kalinda’s brows shot up to her hairline. “I thought all the doors were closed from Fae to here. How did she do it?”

Silva swallowed. “There’s only one way: from the palace. Whoever is sitting on my throne opened the door for her. And they’ve officially declared war on the human world.”

Kalinda’s blood ran cold. They now had the Norn of the Past and the King of History in attendance.

This didn’t bode well at all.

Yup, ugly bad. She knew it!
