I laughed. “You are sneaky.”

Taylor paid us no mind, already using her holo-pad to read over the information the Rhonar provided on their stealth technology. “You know, Miach, would probably be helpful with this.” She swiped through the information faster than I could have read it. “I know he’s their healer, but he’s brilliant. And he’s been helping us make their medical tech compatible with ours.”

“And he’s also gorgeous, funny, and a doctor,” Sage teased.

Taylor grabbed the popcorn bucket and dumped it over my sister’s head.

I howled with laughter. “Okay, I’m going to see my hot alien, and you two are cleaning up this mess.” With that, I left my quarters, closing the door on their antics as I went.

Tor was across the hall in his own temporary quarters until we could solidify the deal between the Rhonar and Earth. Now that we had the ergamite, it was only a matter of time.

“My lovely little captain,” Tor rose and claimed me in his embrace, “I missed you.”

“Cocky commander,” I nuzzled his chest, “I wasn’t gone that long.”

He sat on the bed, bringing me with him. “Thirty clicks is a near eternity.”

“Needy warrior.” I laughed against his lips as we kissed. His tongue swept inside my mouth and all thoughts flew from my head. When we broke apart, I straddled his waist. He linked our hands together, and I stared at the new markings on his forearms and wrist. “I love your katra.” I circled the metallic pattern he’d chosen for me—a series of swirls that glowed in contrast to his skin. “And I love you.”

“I love you, Jane.” He guided me over his hardened cock, angling my hips as he did. “Let me show you how much.” He pulled me down for another long, languorous kiss.Let me show you forever.

I smiled, thinking of the lingerie I’d hidden beneath my clothes. I couldn’t wait to show him. Now and always.I think that can be arranged.

“Thank you.” I handed the instructions to my assistant, hoping he didn’t crex up anything while I signed off for the night. As the primary healer of the Rhonar I took my job seriously, even if I acted like a draving fool half the time. It was the only way I knew to keep the hunger at bay and stop my abilities from dragging me into the void. If I didn’t take the universe too seriously, then the universe couldn’t crex with me.

That’s what I’d believe before the little Terran came into my life.

Rising from my desk, I headed for the gym. My palms were sweating, and I needed a cleanser desperately, but my mind raced with other desires. At this time of night, everyone was thankfully in their quarters or on the night shift. I stripped off my leathers and dove into the water. The battle cruiser was outfitted with everything a warrior required in deep space. As that included exercise, a pool was built into the gym with its own gravitational field. Should the ship be attacked and power lost, the water would remain in place, thanks to the separate circuit of regenerating power.

That’s what the stealth shields need.I worked through the problem as I swam. Ever since the tiny blond Terran had sent me the assignment from her captain, I’d been itching to work on it. But with Commander Tor on sabbatical as he bonded with his mate, and the negotiations with Earth continuing, I’d had my hands full on the battle cruiser.

I stopped mid-stroke and spit out a mouthful of water. “That’s a crexing lie.”

No one needed me. The Versaken had been pushed out of Earth’s orbit—for now. With the plans for the ergamite to power shields around the Terrans’ planet, we’d soon be able to protect them without the constant need for battle. And other than the occasional sick warrior—which Celestia knew was bad enough—with luck the med-wing would be an empty place.

You’re avoiding the assignment because of her.I closed my eyes and dunked my head under the water, the cold feel of it lapping at my ears. An image of the beautiful female appeared behind my closed lids. Her honey-yellow hair, fair skin, dark dots across her nose, bright hazel eyes, and plump little body I yearned to feel against mine...I was sunk.Crex.

I cut through the pool like a spear sliced the air. Water sloshed everywhere. Hoisting my chest over the side, I climbed out and stomped for the drying unit. The warm rays zapped the moisture from my skin. I dressed and headed for the communications room. Placing a call to the moonbase, I waited for a response.

“Hi Miach!” The source of my torment appeared on the screen. “Did you read my report? Ready to get to work?”

“Greetings, Taylor,” I said coolly. I had to squash this hope between us. The hunger gnawed inside me like a ravenous beast, threatening to devour this lovelysakashawhole. I’d not be the cause of her downfall. “I reviewed the material. I’m afraid I see no merit in your plan.”

Her brows shot toward her nose as her mouth tightened. “Miach, I can tell something is up with you.” She plopped her hand under her chin. “You going to tell me about it, or just act like a jerk?’

I bit back a smile. Taylor was the personification of sunshine. Even the coldest ice would be melted by her rays. But I couldn’t reveal my problem—shewas my problem. “It’s nothing.” I waved it away, hoping to throw her off the scent.

“Uh-huh.” She stretched her arms overhead. “Well, usually you’re a ton of fun to be around, but since you’re being so grumpy,” her eyes twinkled with mischief, “you’ll have to be punished.”

My cock hardened at her words. I inwardly cursed the damn thing. It was a liar. Wanting this female didn’t make a future for us. “Specialist, I don’t report to you.”

“Whoa!” Flapping her hands at the screen, she straightened. “You really are in a mood.”

“Can we get on with this then?” I ground my teeth. Keeping up this bastard persona toward her was harder than I’d thought it’d be.
