Randi chuckled and bumped her shoulder against Eden’s. “That was a nice thing you did.”
“What? I could tell she wasn’t excited about the little kids' rides.”
“Now I have to ride the Mini Mine Train,” Randi said.
“You’ve ridden it before,” Eden replied. “It’s the little roller coaster. You love it!”
Randi laughed. “Will you sit next to me?”
Eden laughed. “I always do!”
They caught up with the others and watched as Alice rode the rides with Maggie. They both had big smiles on their faces.
“Y’all don’t have to stay here with us,” Cari said. “We can meet you later.”
Eden shrugged and looked at Randi. “We don’t mind hanging out here for a little while. Look at those smiles.”
“Yeah, I think Alice may like this more than Maggie,” Randi said. “Besides, we’re going to ride the Mini Mine Train with Alice.”
The kids hopped off one ride and onto another and it wasn’t long until they moved on to their next part of the park.
“Where did Analise and Tennie go?” Eden asked.
“To one of the big roller coasters on the other side of the park,” Cari replied.
“Did you want to go with them?” Randi asked Eden.
She shook her head. “No, I’m riding the Mini Mine Train with you.”
Randi smiled as they got in line behind Cari, Paige, and the girls. Once it was their turn to ride, Alice and Paige sat in front of Eden and Randi. Alice turned around and patted Randi on the knee. “Don’t be scared, you’re going to love this.”
Eden chuckled. “I’ll hold her hand. She’ll be fine.”
“Here we go!” Alice squealed as the car jerked and began to move slowly down the track.
Eden threaded her fingers through Randi’s and grinned. “You’re not really scared, are you?” she asked, quietly so only Randi could hear.
Randi shook her head. “You’ve got me.”
They suddenly lurched forward and picked up speed. It was Randi who squealed and Eden laughed, squeezing her hand. The laughter, hoots, and hollers echoed around them. The ride lasted less than a few minutes and before they knew it they were pulling back into the station.
“Wasn’t that fun?” Alice asked Randi.
“It was! Should we go again?”
Eden saw Alice’s eyes light up and chuckled. Randi had made a new friend and Eden felt her heart melt.
“We can ride it again later,” Paige said. “We have a lot more to explore. This way!”
They followed Paige down the sidewalk to more rides that were kid-friendly.
“Let’s go to the cave,” Randi said. “We can meet up with them later.”
“Okay,” Eden agreed.
After they left the others Eden felt Randi’s arm loop through hers. “We can go ride a few things together then I thought maybe we could take the girls and let Cari and Paige ride some of the big rides. If that’s okay with you?”
“I like that plan,” Eden said. “I don’t want to ride those big roller coasters either. I want to hang with you.”
