Her eyes softened and she kissed me. It was a kiss that ended up heating up way too quickly, and before we knew it, she was riding me on the bench in the dugout. By the time we were done, sweaty and exhausted, I brushed her hair out of her face and grinned at her.

“How the hell am I going to go to practice and sit in here and not get hard now?”

“Hmm… sounds like a problem…” She nodded, her eyes shining with mischief. “Maybe we should do this at the other field, too?” I tickled her sides until she called uncle. We got up, slowly righting each other’s clothes before we headed back to my place, where I held her in my arms all night long with a peace in my soul I hadn’t known was possible.

A peace I thought I only knew out in the field under the lights, but I had been wrong. Sadie was my peace, my everything.

EPILOGUE

SADIE

Ipeeked into the locker room and immediately froze.

Jeremy Fletcher was right in front of me as if he had been heading out.

“You,” he snickered, pointing a finger at me. “You know this is the guys’ locker room?”

“I think I saw a sign about that,” I said softly, biting my lip.

“He’s the only one left,” he muttered. “When I leave, you can lock the door. He was about to head into the showers.”

“Thanks.” I blushed furiously. Damn me for being too early.

“Right,” he muttered before waving goodbye, probably hurrying to meet Tere, who was returning from an away game. It was the end of her season and the start of theirs.

College sports were no joke. I don’t think I would ever come close to having the kind of dedication college athletes had to their sport. Jason and I had been together for a couple of months now, and we were solid. Steady. But the start of the season meant he had been busier. Distracted about the future and what these next couple of months would determine when it came to what he would be doing after he graduated. Not that I was worried. It would all work out. We would figure it out. Those who heard us after finding out we had been together for a fewmonths always gave us a look, and I understood it. To them, it sounded naïve. Childish and immature to think we would figure it out when we were both trying to go after such different careers, but we would make it work because there was no other choice.

He was mine and I was his.

Undoubtedly and completely.

It was also why I might have channeled my very own Jason and had been spying about the guys’ locker room this week. Waiting outside on one of the benches, waiting to see when the last person slipped out so I could surprise Jason with his very own stalker.

What was good for the goose was good for the gander after all.

I headed inside and locked the door like Jeremy had advised. Tere and he were now together, too, though their story was even more… quirky than Jason and mine. Though, quirkywasn’t exactly the right word. If Jason had stalked me, I guess you could say Jeremy bullied her into giving him a chance, but that was their story to tell.

The locker room smelled like sweat, cologne, and testosterone while I walked towards the sound of running water. Before I knew it, I was standing at the edge of the doorway of the steamy showers, and there he was.

Star shortstop. Future Hall of Famer. My man.

My eyes couldn’t get enough of him. His back was turned to me as the water pounded down his muscles. Steam floated around him. I licked my lips when his muscles bunched and flexed and my body had no chance other than react to it.

Jason Lucas was the most beautiful man I had ever seen. And he is all mine. My man. My everything.

I couldn’t tear my gaze off his naked body, off the way water dripped down each line and ripped angle, the clench of his greatass. And as I perved out on my sexy stalker of a boyfriend, I got it. Understood him a little better than I had before. I could see the allure of hiding in the shadows, watching someone in a private moment they didn’t expect anyone to be around.

And I liked it.

A lot.

My nipples tightened as I pressed my thighs together. Maybe this wouldn’t be the first and last time I creeped around and watched him when he didn’t know.

“You going to stand there all night, or you going to take those clothes off and scrub my back?” His deep voice almost echoed with a demand, his back still to me. Jason’s head turned. He had a wolfish smirk on his lips.

“You really think I haven’t noticed you around when I leave practice this week?” I opened and shut my mouth, loving the sound of his laughter.

Laughter that died instantly when I stepped forward and pulled the dress I was wearing specifically for this reason up and over my head, hanging it on one of the towel hooks.
