Impossibly close.

He leaned forward, my body rose to the tips of my toes, and before I knew what I was doing, my lips were on his and I was kissing him. It wasn’t sweet or soft or even a little gentle. It didn’t have the kind of slow build you would have with someone you just met. Nope. This guy, who I’d assumed would be all about himself and his ego, kissed with passion and heat and a domineering control that even I couldn’t lie to myself made my knees wobble a little. Undoubtedly generous and in tune with my body.

As if somehow knowing his effect on me, he wrapped his hands around my middle, holding me flush against him. My breath hitched in the middle of my throat when I felt it. Hard and thick. It seemed like I wasn’t the only one feeling the best kiss ever.

Damn, the first one wasn’t some kind of fluke!

I wasn’t above admitting that feeling his hard thickness pressed against my belly was a little of an ego boost. Not to mention the way it kicked up my already overheated blood.Jeremy’s fingers dug into my sides possessively, and I couldn’t deny how much I liked that, too.

Shit. Jeremy Fletcher was trouble with a capital T.

Not only was I attracted to him, but he kissed like the devil and made my head swim with need. Nothing but him and I and that damn kiss existed. A sinfully delicious growl bubbled through him, making my nipples tighten almost painfully as wet warmth pooled embarrassingly between my legs.

My lungs burned, and the world as I knew it tilted on its axis a second before he broke the kiss. “Fuck,” he cursed before resting his forehead against mine.

“Wow,” I stupidly whispered, and I knew he’d heard when he gave me an all-knowing smug smirk. “Shut up,” I sassed, taking a huge step away from him.

Not that I got too far since my legs were still a little shaky, they wobbled, but he held me in his arms, not letting me go too far. “Be careful, babe.” The genuine concern in his voice jarred me.

“I’m not your babe,” I argued half-heartedly as my fingers rose to touch my lips. They were swollen and wet. I licked them again, hating how much I loved the taste of him there.

“Teresa,” he tsked. “Thought we had a deal.”

A deal.Shit! What am I doing? This guy was blackmailing me, bullying me for some damn reason to go out with him, and I was willingly kissing him! He pulled his phone from his pocket as if to remind me what he had on me. I glared at him.

“Whatever.” There was no fight in my voice, yet his dark brows narrowed.

“Don’t do that.” He shook his head, his blue eyes darkening with warning. “You kissed me.”

“I didn’t— I—“ I stuttered because he was right. I had been the one to all but throw myself at him and kiss him after almost getting caught red-handed. “How did you have her keys?”

“Tell me you kissed me. I didn’t start that.” He was like a dog with a bone, and I knew by the way he stood and his jaw ticked that he wasn’t going to let it go.

“Fine.” I might have childishly stomped my foot. “I kissed you. Kisses… happen.” It was a weak argument at best, but his lips twitched like he thought my pouting was cute, which only made everything inside of me feel even more confused.

“Like I told her, I found them outside.” He shrugged. I couldn’t tell if he was lying. “Make sure to return your roommate hers,” he reminded me. My mouth opened on instinct to give him some snarky response, but it seemed he was done with our little chat. Jeremy simply turned and, before he started to walk, took my hand in his, tangling our fingers together like we’d held hands a million times before, and started walking.

And for some reason, I didn’t fight him.

I didn’t shake his hand away from mine. I didn’t yell at him to let go or shout for help.

Nope, I didn’t do anything but let him lead the way home.

My brain was still in a daze from the kiss. That’s what it had to be! But even the little devil on my shoulder didn’t say a thing. I kept looking up at him, soaking in his profile without worrying about him catching me look at him like I usually was.

For being a blackmailing bully, Jeremy Fletcher was kind of sweet.

My nerves started to settle down from the crazy excitement and adrenaline and fear. I tried to think about my grades. About my biology class; how it would now be a million times tougher to figure out considering the pervy professor. So stuck in my head yet safe enough to let the baseball player lead the way.

Again, something I was not going to overthink!

When I looked around, I was surprised to see us already back in our dorm building in an elevator heading up to our floor. I wanted to say something.

Anything to break the weird hyped-up sexual tension that was left after that kiss. But as I stared at him, how calm and cool he seemed as he leaned against the rail inside of the elevator, the thick pad of his thumb slowly stroking the top of my hand, I couldn’t string two words together. Not even one. He glanced at me. Something dark but warm and intriguing flashed in his beautiful eyes.

Just as quickly as it appeared, it faded away. With our eyes locked, his hand rose as he brought mine up and kissed the edge of my knuckles. The predatory gaze in his eyes should have creeped me out, should have thrown some kind of red flag up in my head to pull my arm back. But it didn’t. Almost like he timed it perfectly, the elevator stopped and he dropped my hand, letting it go free.

And for some reason, I didn’t like it. I felt cold. Alone. What is going on with me? I’m not this girl! I don’t depend on a guy! I’m not a pick-me!Jeremy jerked his head towards the door, silently beckoning to follow him again.
