“No,” Slade said, his voice full of disgust. “You did something a doctor should never do, you son of a bitch. You led a woman to believe she needed a cyst removal and deceived her, then disappeared, leaving her without answers.”

“I’m sorry,” Phillips didn’t look up, continued to look down.

“Jesus.” Slade cursed as he regained his composure, somewhat. His voice was rough when he looked back at Phillips. “Whoever gave you a medical license needs to be fucking shot.”

Phillips sobbed harder. “I didn’t know what else to do.”

Slade leaned down, his face close to Phillips’s. “You could have told her the truth. You could have protected your patient. You could have been a fucking doctor.”

Phillips shook his head. “They would have killed me.”

“Do you have any idea what she went through?” Slade spat, his voice full of disgust. “What she endured not knowing, you worthless piece of shit? They aren’t who you should be worried about. I’m close to killing you myself, but that is not my right. By Warrior code that is her mates right.”

All Phillips could do was look down and weep. Slade cursed as he turned and slammed out of the room.

Sloan turned just as Slade entered the viewing room, still cursing. “I swear to God, if you don’t kill him, I will.”

“His time will come. I want Adam to work on him some more to make sure we are getting everything we can out of the fucker.” Sloan growled.

He definitely had plans for the bastard, but not yet. He’d let Adam work on him for a while. He wanted every name, every place, every greedy son of a bitch involved in this because more women were in danger. He was a selfish man when it came to his mate, but he was also a fair man who sought justice for everyone. This needed to be stopped.

“You need to tell Becky right away.” Slade’s eyes slowly started to fade back to gold. “All this time she has thought—” Slade didn’t finish because they all knew what Becky had thought. What they all had thought.

“Go on,” Rafe said, giving Sloan a small shove toward the door. “You mind if I take a whack at the fucker? I’m pretty good at interrogating, as you well know.”

“Don’t kill him,” Sloan warned, his voice low as he walked toward the door. “He’s mine.”

“Only if I get to be there when you do,” Rafe said, following him out.

“Mind if I watch?” Steve asked, falling into step beside him. “I’ve been wanting to interrogate, but all I get is a fuck no.”

“Sure, kid.” Rafe chuckled as he opened the interrogation room door.

Sloan heard them, but ignored it. His mind was already moving faster than his feet, pushing past the rage and grabbing onto the only thing that mattered in that moment.

Becky.

She needed to know the truth. Needed to know Phillips hadn’t done the procedure. Needed to know the nightmare she had been carrying was not exactly what they all thought it was.

But even as relief cut through him, rage followed right behind it. Because the bastard had known. He had known she was pregnant and still let her believe she’d been violated in a way that had broken something inside her. The bastard had let her be sick with fear, shame, and confusion because his own worthless life meant more to him than hers.

Sloan’s jaw tightened as he headed toward his office. He would give Becky the truth first.

Then he would go back and remind Dr. Phillips exactly who the fuck he had crossed.

CHAPTER 26

Becky was starting to feel better about her situation after talking with Dawn. Not great. Not even close. But better. She was trying to push what she’d heard earlier to the side for now and deal with that later. Right now, her main priority was making sure the child growing inside her was taken care of. This stress wasn’t good for the baby or her, and she’d learned that the hard way the first time. Frankie had been born early and spent weeks in the NICU. It had been one of the hardest times in her life. She had been alone and afraid, making decisions a girl who was still a kid herself shouldn’t have had to make.

“Do you think Amara will be open with me about her and her nephew’s blood type?” Dawn asked, breaking into her thoughts.

“Amara is amazing.” Becky nodded. “She wants to help the Warriors. She’s mated to King and saved his life with her blood. I have no doubt she will be more than happy to give you any information you need.”

“Good.” Dawn smiled then looked around the office. “I think I’m going to have my hands full here.”

“You will.” Becky’s smile came a little easier. “But I think you’ll get along with all the mates, which I’m sure you’ll be meeting sooner rather than later. They’re all amazing women.”

“I’ll be seeing them all next week,” Dawn said as she looked through the papers in front of her. “I have to get the office set up first. Dr. Buchanan said most of the equipment I need is already in.”
