Her chocolate-brown eyes meet mine, glassy with need. “Bite me as you fuck me, Joel.”

The growl that rumbles from my chest is primal. It’s feral. And it comes from the place inside me that needs to claim Rose.

I lick the spot I want to bite, and her eyes close as she rests her head against my shoulder. And I bite down. Hard enough to leave my mark. Hard enough to claim her as mine. She freezes, chokes out a strangled moan, and her pussy tightens like a fist around my dick. I pull my teeth from her throat.

“Fuck.” My pace picks up, and I pin her wrists to the slippery tile, my body driving hard against hers. The pressure inside me explodes, and tiny white stars burst behind my closed eyelids. I press my face to her throat to muffle my growl as my cock swells inside her, my knot locking us tight and triggering Rose’s second climax.

Struggling to catch my breath, I lower Rose’s hands from the wall and wrap my arms around her as her pussy keeps delivering muscle-quivering aftershocks that make me want to keep my dick inside her for the rest of my life.

“Rose?” I kiss her neck.

“I’m okay,” she says, her voice husky and still shaky.

I smile. “What makes you think that’s what I was going to ask you?”

She turns her head to meet my gaze. Her eyes are warm and soft. “You care about me too much not to ask. I always hear it in your voice.”

“It’s a lot more than care, Rose.” I peer down at her beautiful face, amazed.

“What is it?” she asks, searching my expression. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Feeling like the luckiest guy in the world that I get to call you mine. Love. That’s what this is. I’ve never felt anything like it in my life, and I doubt I ever will again.”

She kisses me softly, a tender caress. “I love you too, Joel. It’s why I couldn’t go to bed until I knew you were home safe, and it’s why I wanted you to bite me. My future is in Rios with you.”

We kiss until it hits me how long it’s been since I switched off the water. Breaking away, I frown. “You must be cold.”

She shakes her head, her smile impish. “Turns out you have this amazing ability to distract me so well that I no longer give a damn whether I’m tired, naked, or cold.”

I chuckle. “The feeling is mutual, baby. But let me get you warm, dry, and move this somewhere more comfortable.”

“Your bed?” she asks hopefully.

I make a face. “You don’t want to see the mess in my room. Your bed, definitely.”

She laughs. “Okay.”

I angle my body so my back hits the spray before I turn on the shower, waiting until it’s nice and hot before I move Rose under it. Once we’ve warmed ourselves up again, I snag a towel and scoop her into my arms, carrying her to her bedroom to dry off, where I convince her to stay up for just a little longer. And not to talk.

It’s bright and early when Rose’s bedroom door swings open.

“Mommy!”

Shit.

We break apart and bolt upright in bed, yanking the sheets up. Rose to her neck. I cover everything below the waist. We’ve been up for hours, talking, making love, and snuggling. I should have known it was only a matter of time before Ben came looking for his mom. Instead, I’d let the woman I love distract me beyond reason that I stopped using my brain.

She’s not breathing as Ben walks in wearing his plastic yellow firefighter's helmet. He looks cute as hell, but that’swaydown low on my thinking points right now. A distant thought only. My only priority is getting through this moment without mentally scarring Ben.

Ben scratches the sleeve of his firefighter pajamas, smiling as if he hadn’t just walked in on us kissing in Rose’s bed. “Hi, Mommy. Hi, Joel.”

“Hey, Ben,” I say, half my attention on Ben and the other on Rose. She looks as if she’s preparing to dive off the bed and hide in her closet. I’m ready to join her the second she moves.

“Hi, baby. You sleep okay?” Rose asks, sounding surprisingly calm despite her flame-red cheeks.

“Uh-huh. I was riding a green dinosaur.” Ben climbs onto the bottom of the bed and sits cross-legged. “Can I play with Harry today?”

She lets out a quiet sigh of relief, and her grip on the sheet loosens. “Um, he’s at school today, but I can speak to Lina about a playdate at her house or here if she says it’s okay.”
