“Well, I told you how things work around here. We all got our own baby to name, raise, and train. And since you named her, she’s yours.”
I look down at the not-so-little baby, something protective unfurling from the shadows inside me. “I can’t. What happens when I have to go back to LA? Or somewhere else for a shoot?”
“I’ll take care of her for you, but I’ll always know you’ve got a reason to come back.”
I didn’t know it was possible for words to melt my heart, but you learn new things every day.
My arms wrap around his waist, head tilting up for another kiss. This one is consuming. His hand drifts up to grip the back of my head and I clutch at his back like I’m afraid of losing him.
The only thing that makes me pull away is the realization that I still haven’t told him the one thing I’ve been meaning to say since I hopped on that plane.
“I love you, Quint. You don’t need to give me a horse to make sure I come back. I’ll always come back to you.”
Chapter 34
Quint
Irollover, pullingAura’s soft body into my arms. And while I love it when she takes charge and takes her pleasure from me, this is one of my favorite times of day. When she’s still soft and pliable from sleep. Warm and sweet, snuggling her little ass right up against…
Yeah, that’s the only problem there. My dick doesn’t have any respect for my heart. He’s constantly ready for her. One look, one brush of her hand. Anything can set him off.
She wiggles that ass right up against him and I groan. “Come on.”
“What?”
“You know we don’t have time for that.”
“We could make it quick?” she says hopefully.
“Don’t tempt me. Please. I’m begging you. I’ll cave, and Caleb will kill me.”
“Nah, it’ll be Shayla. But at least you’ll die happy,” she says, twisting around in my arms.
She moved back in with me the day after we got back from LA, and waking up next to her every day for the last two weeks has been fucking amazing. But the days are dwindling away into fall, and we’re getting closer and closer to the end of filming. We’ve been avoiding talking about the inevitable, but I think it’s time we figure out how we’re going to make this work outside of the little bubble of the show.
“I’ve been thinking we should start talking about our plans.”
“For stew night?”
Her black hair frames her face like a halo, a stark contrast to the white sheets.
“For after. After stew night, and the end of the show. I’ve loved having you in my bed every night, Hollywood, but I know our time is running out. We’ve only got so much of it before you’re going back to LA. So how are we going to do this?”
She rolls over, propping herself up on her elbows.
“I’ve been thinking about that. What if…what if I didn’t move back to LA? At least not full time.”
She can’t mean what I think she means. “But your life is there. Your job is there. You’ve got friends there, don’t you?”
Her little nose crinkles up. “The thing about life as an actor is, I can live anywhere I want. There are plenty of actors who live in other places. I can fly in for events and auditions. Of course, it’ll be hard if I have to leave to filmsomewhere else for a while. But it’ll be worth it if I know I’ve got you to come home to. And then you can fly out to visit me or come to some of those Hollywood events with me. If you didn’t find it too hard.”
“Nothing’s too hard with you at my side. And I think I can learn to love flying if it means I get to be with you more.” I cup her chin, stroking her cheek with my thumb.
“I feel like I’m doing this wrong,” she says with a soft laugh. “Am I being presumptuous, asking to move in with you?”
“Is that what you’re asking?”
“Yes, I guess? No, definitely. Can I move in with you, Quint?” She tilts her head in my hand. “Please?”
