Lucky

Lucky tossedand turned in bed. After so many years of sleeping with Jude, it now took her forever to fall asleepwithouthim.

She reached over and grabbed her phone from her nightstand to see if he texted or called, but there was nothing. She couldn't help but wonder where he was, it wasn't like him to not letherknow.

With a sigh, she started texting him, but then quickly deleted the message. She was overreacting. There was no reason to worry. She put her phone back on the nightstand, then gave in to her heavyeyelids.

Lucky wokeas Jude's arm wrapped around her waist before kissing her neck. "I was getting worried," she said. "I thought you would've called or something. You know how much I hate you riding thatthing."

"Sorry, I should have reached out, but I didn't want to wake you. Cade was giving me shit about some article. He thinks I'm cheatingonyou."

"So then tell him the truth," Lucky said. "You said you'd tell him after this leg of the tour was over. Just cut to thechase."

"No, he'll find out eventually. Right now this is our own little secret." He gently bit her neck. "Have you given any more thought to joining me on the next leg? I'll be farther away. I won't be able to sleep with you everynight."

"I just might,"shesaid.

"Doesthatmean...?"

Lucky rolled onto her back so she could look at him. "I wrote," she said, excitement filling her voice. "I finally gave in after all these years and decided to watch the documentary. Just seeing us together and thinking about our time on the bus and all of our history got my brain going. The next thing I knew, I was grabbing my notebook and writing lyrics. I even have some pieces for other songsdowntoo."

"That's awesome. I know you were worried you lost it, but I knew it was stillinyou."

As Jude pulled her closer to him, Lucky wrapped her arms around hisshoulders.

"I think I've been overthinking things," she said. "I've been so caught up about this being ten years and thinking people want to hear something even better from me, that I ended up not giving them anything at all. When I let all of that go and thought about how I used to be able to write all the time, the words just startedtoflow."

Lucky yawned before resting her head against Jude'sshoulder.

"Sweet dreams, my dear," he said. "You'll have to play the songs for me in themorning."

"Mmm definitely. I think they're some of the best lyrics I've everwritten."

As Lucky started closing her eyes, she felt Jude's lips press against herforehead.

"Olivia," he whispered. "You stillawake?"

"Mmm-hmm, barely," she said with asmile.

"Good. I know I probably don't say it as much as you'd like, but Iloveyou."

Lucky sighed happily. "Iknow."

"You know?" Jude said with alaugh.

"I do. There's nothing I'm more sure about than how much you love me. I love you too," Lucky said with asmile.

"I know. It's really good to see you smiling again. You know I'm only happy when you'rehappy."

"And you know I'm always happy when I'mwithyou."

"Then you'll come on the next leg of the tour?" Judeasked.

"Definitely. Wild horses couldn't keepmeaway."

"I'm going to hold you to that," he said as he squeezed hertight.
