And it feels like coming home.

It feels like every piece of me that broke off over the last week is coming crawling back and sliding into place.

I’m not sure how long we kiss, but it’s so long that I’m not sure who is holding up who anymore.

“I’m scared too,” he says when we finally pull apart. “I have been since I saw you sitting at that metal table, looking smug. I knew even then that you were going to rock my world. I just didn’t know how. But now that we’re here ... fuck, I don’t know. I can’t picture it any other way. This is it for me.You’reit for me, Summer. I’m yours.”

I grin. “It was my brattiness that did it, wasn’t it?”

“And the apron helped too.”

I laugh, then pull him back in for another kiss.

“I love you,” he says against my lips.

“I love you, too, Ezra. Thank you for not giving up on me.”

“Never.”

I know deep in my bones that he means it completely, and I’m never going to take that for granted again.

“Want to dance?” he asks.

“With you? Always.”

“Always sounds good to me, Sunny.”

He takes my hand and leads me back inside, where I spend the rest of the night in his arms, then his bed.

Something tells me that no matter what, we’re going to be okay.

And maybe even forever.

Epilogue

Ezra

“Can we please be done with weddings now?”

“What? You’re not having yours on the property too?” Noah jams his elbow into my ribs with a grin. “Mr. Engaged.”

I roll my eyes. He’s been calling me that for weeks now, ever since I proposed to Summer.

We were walking along Harborview Boulevard, and it just hit me out of nowhere—I wanted to marry her.

Maybe it was the way the mountains looked against the sunset-colored sky, or perhaps it was just that I’m so in love with her that I can barely keep my hands to myself. Whatever it was, I knew. I had already planned on spending the rest of my life with her, but I wanted it to be official. I wanted her to beminein every sense of the word.

I spent the next two weeks looking at rings until I found the perfect one—a brown pear-cut diamond encrusted by several smaller white diamonds—and then I set the plan in motion. I would cook her dinner, then afterward we’d take a late-night drive to do some stargazing, and I’d ask her there.

None of that happened.

I came home to find her in my kitchen in the tiniest pair of shorts, a cropped tee, and an apron. One look at her and all my plans went to shit.

We didn’t make it out of the kitchen for another hour, and I had my dinner on the countertop. Later, we snuggled in bed with our cereal instead of going for a drive, and at nearly 2:00 a.m., I reached over to the side table drawer, pulled out the ring, and asked her—milk dribbling down her chin and all.

Sometimes I wish I could have waited and made it more romantic, but it just felt sous. And based on the way Summer is showing off her ring to literally everyone tonight and gushing over the story, I think it’s safe to say she feels the same.

“I don’t know where we’re getting married. We haven’t discussed details yet.”
