“Don’t.” She chopped the onion, cursing when a small piece rolled onto the floor. Quickly, she picked it up and set it on the counter. Bracing herself against the island, she said, “Whatever you do, please don’t apologize.” She peered up at him. “No woman would want to hear an apology after a kiss like that.Twokisses.” Especially since she still felt it in every bone in her body.

“I wasn’t going to apologize.” He took another step.

“Oh.” She released a shaky breath. “That’s good.” Scraping the edge of the countertop, she peeked up at him. “ButIshould apologize for turning all teen girl and running away the way I did.”

He chuckled. “Don’t apologize.”

“Should we be adults and talk about it?” She straightened her spine, attempting to appear cool and calm, although nothing about this moment was cool or calm. Hot and intense were more appropriate descriptions for the shift between them.

“Definitely.” Andrew sat across from her. “I think if we ever decide to change the dynamics of our relationship, it’s better to be open about what it means.”

“It’s that easy for you?” she asked. “I mean, if I told you it was a mistake and it could never happen again, you’d be okay with that?”

“Is that what you’re saying?”

Paige sighed. “No, I’m not saying that.”

“Good.”

She flattened a hand over her stomach. “Good?”

“Yeah,” he whispered. His gaze flickered down to her lips before traveling lower. What the hell is he doing?Oh, she knew. He was playing with fire, igniting a flame inside her with his intense stare.

She walked toward him slowly. “Just so we’re clear. When you saygooddoes that mean you wouldn’t want me to think it was a mistake?”

He shook his head.

Now standing in front of him, she stepped between his legs. “Because it’s not, right?”

Andrew wrapped a hand around her neck and pulled her to him. “No.” Then his mouth was on hers again.

And damn. . . his hands were everywhere, touching every part of her—on her face, down her back, over her ass. His warm lips grazed her ear, her neck, and her shoulder before meeting hers again in a searing kiss. She sagged against him, unable to fight the torrent of emotions swirling inside her. Paige had never been held like this, kissed like this. His touch stoked the fire already threatening to consume her.

Paige tugged his shirt up and off, tossing it behind her. He stood then, lifting her in his arms and fusing his mouth to hers again. Wrapping her legs around his lean waist, she dug her nails in his scalp as he carried her through the house. She had no idea where he was going, but she hoped he would stop soon so she could ease the ever-growing ache in her core, so she could feel the erection pressing against her sex inside her.

She broke the kiss. “You don’t need to take me to bed. I swear. I’m good wherever.”

Andrew laughed, before he turned her suddenly. Backing her up against the wall, he pushed his hard length into her. “You sure?”

Paige groaned, rolling her hips into his. “I’m so sure. Please, just do . . . something.”

“Shit.” He nipped at her chin. “You’re killing me.”

Then they were moving again, just a few steps until he dropped her on the sofa.Finally. She sat up and had started to pull her shirt off when his hands stopped her. Her eyes flickered to his, praying that he wasn’t having second thoughts. “What’s wrong?”

He smirked. “Nothing. Let me.”

Paige dropped her hands and arched a brow. “Don’t take too long. Make your move.”

Andrew barked out a laugh. “We’re not playing Scrabble. Don’t rush me.”

He dropped to his knees and peeled off her pants. Then he kissed his way up her legs, to her thighs. “So beautiful,” he whispered.

“Drew,” she moaned.

“Yes.” He blazed a trail of hot kisses over her pelvic bone, up her stomach, pushing her shirt up along the way. He brushed his lips over the tops of her breasts and finally pulled the shirt off before pressing his mouth to hers again.

Paige couldn’t feel anything but him, and the way they were in this moment. She didn’t register room temperature or smell or even the cushion beneath her. The only thing she felt was the heat between their bodies.
