Lifting her off the ground, he carried her inside never breaking the kiss. She’d missed him.Oh, God, I miss this. It hadn’t even been forty-eight hours since she’d seen him last, but it felt like a lifetime.

Andrew pulled back, held her gaze. “Where do you want to go?”

She pointed to the living room couch. “Over there is good.”

The low rumble of his laughter settled something inside her. The nervous churning she’d felt talking to Demi about court and the apprehension about possibly testifying at the criminal trial seemed to melt away under his touch, under his warm lips and hands.

He took her to the couch, setting her down on her feet and turning her around so that her back was against him.

She groaned when she felt his tongue against her neck. Slowly, he slid her shirt up and off and removed her bra. Paige purred when she felt his knuckles against the small of her back, she trembled in anticipation when she heard him pull the zipper on her skirt. The fabric fell at her feet and she stepped out of it.

Andrew groaned, ripping her panties off with one motion.

Oh my God. Paige needed his mouth on hers. Turning in his arms, she pulled him down to her for another kiss and removed his shirt, tossing it behind them. She brushed her lips against his chest, unbuckled his pants, and pushed them down. Shoving him onto the couch, she rolled a condom over his thick erection and climbed on top of him.

“You feel so good.” He held her against him, pushing his tip against her entrance. Smacking her ass, he said, “Come on. Don’t make me wait.”

Smirking, she lowered herself on him, closing her eyes as sensations overloaded her. His fingers tightened on her hips as he thrust into her, drawing a low groan from her mouth. They moved to a rhythm all their own, enjoying the connection, taking their time. Paige loved hard and fast, but this . . . shelovedslow and tender, eyes on eyes, skin to skin. She loved him.

“Drew,” she moaned.I love you.

Paige loved his spirit, his dry sense of humor, his wit, his dedication, his sensibility, his face, his body . . . everything about him. She didn’t think she could ever have enough of him. He made her feel dizzy and powerful, treasured and respected. She wanted more with every passing minute. She wanted him. Only him.

A wave of pleasure spread over her, and she arched her head back as she came, still moving, still riding him through her orgasm until he followed her over. Collapsing against him, she burrowed into his chest when he wrapped his arms around her. “I missed you,” she confessed breathily. She felt him chuckle beneath her and lifted her head to meet his gaze. “What are you laughing at?”

“I can definitely tell.”

Paige laughed. “I’m glad you came.”

Andrew blessed her with his beautiful dimpled smile. “Me too.” She felt him hardening again inside her. “I think I’m ready to come again.”

Chapter Fifteen

Paige couldn’t believe how much her life had changed in a matter of weeks. Instead of feeling suffocated, she felt free. The weight of her anxiety had lifted, and she could breathe again. She had been back in L.A. for a week and she’d actually gone out in public. She’d even returned to her boutique gym and had a cup of coffee with Skye outside.

The paparazzi had hounded her, but she’d made a decision to keep moving, to keep pushing, to keep living. Paige credited many people with this transformation. Skye had refused to let her sulk for an extended period of time. Her mother checked on her daily just to see if she felt okay—and to give her makeup advice. Chastity hadn’t missed a beat, working diligently and effectively on her behalf. Tanya had continued to send her potential opportunities. Demi had successfully handled Julius and that bogus motion without breaking a sweat.

Paige even had to give credit to herself, for making an effort to break free from the shackles of depression, to take control of her own life so that she could be better. She’d wasted too much time on Julius. And she was ready to move forward—with the shirtless man currently sitting across from her, brows furrowed with concentration as he tried to figure out where the puzzle piece in his hand should go.

Andrew had played an important role in her transformation, too. He’d held her, he’d comforted her, he’d pushed her, he’d laughed with her, and he loved her. They hadn’t said the words yet, but Paige could feel his love in every part of her. It had filled empty spaces that she thought would never be filled again and it had healed her broken heart. And she wanted to tell him how much he meant to her, she wanted him to know how hard she’d fallen for him.

Picking up a piece of the thousand-piece puzzle they were working on together, she stared at him. “How was work?”

He lifted his gaze a minute, before dropping it again. “Long.” He stretched his neck and placed the single piece in its place. “What made you get this puzzle?”

Paige smiled. “I liked it.”

Once complete, she’d hang the puzzle of a black woman holding the world in her hands. She’d already identified the perfect place for it—on her office wall.

“You hate it?” she asked.

Andrew shook his head, his attention on the scattered pieces. “No, it’s nice. But you know this is going to bother me until it’s done, right?”

Giggling, she said, “You don’t have to put it together for me, baby. I bought it so that I could do it.”

When he’d arrived at her house late that night—as he’d done for the past week—they’d eaten pizza to celebrate the judge’s ruling and the pending deal to option the book she’d told him about. And she thought they’d cap the night off with hot, toe-curling sex. Which was why she’d worn the blue satin nightie she had on, fully expecting the same reaction he’d had back at the lake house. She’d even shaved her legs for him.

It had started promising, frantic kisses up to her bedroom, hands moving over her body, teeth nipping at her skin. She’d managed to get his shirt off and unbutton his pants, but then . . .
