I froze, spoon in my mouth. Peering up, I smiled at Lennox and nodded. He grabbed a blueberry cheesecake cup and tasted it. His groan went straight to my pussy, and I immediately felt dirty for being turned on in the house of the Lord. “I love these things,” I offered.
He ate another spoonful. “I can see why.”
My eyes were laser focused on his lips, but I managed to say, “They tell us to only take one, but I always eat two.”
“I won’t tell if you don’t.”
A moment passed while warring emotions threatened to knock me off my square. This definitely wasn’t me. I knew how to talk to a man. This man should’ve been no different than any other guy.Blake Muthafuckin’ Young, get your shit together and stop acting like a smitten schoolgirl who doesn’t know her way around a dick. “I love these things,” I said finally. “I have to stop myself from going overboard.”
“Is this your church?”
I nodded. “My family have been members since we were kids.”
“Friends of the groom?”
“Yep.” I chuckled. “You could say that. Are you here for the bride?”
“Roxy is my best friend’s little sister.”
“Oh. Small world, huh?”
“Very.” His lingering gaze made me uncomfortable in a good way. I liked his eyes on me. And I wondered how his hands would feel too.
“Professor Cole, I should probably apologize again about yesterday.”
He shook his head. “No need.”
“Seriously, thanks for not pressing charges.”
“I believe you didn’t know you were breaking into my place. This is all Dory’s fault.”
“Trust me, she won’t be happy to see me when I track her down.”
He snickered. “Hopefully, it won’t take long.”
“It won’t. I have my ways.” I’d already decided to ask Tristan, who owned a PI firm, to look into her past. “I’ll find her.”
Lennox handed me his business card. “Keep me posted.”
I stared at it, brushing my thumb over his name. “Sure. Are you going to tell me how you know me?”
He smirked. “Maybe,” he teased.
“Come on, man. Can you at least tell me if I was nice to you?”
Blessing me with a full smile, he nodded. “You were. A little drunk, but very nice.”
I raised a brow. “Did I hit on you?”
“No.”
I sighed. “Bummer.”
Chuckling, he said, “You crack me up.”
“As in laughingwithme? Oratme?”
His gaze dropped to my mouth, and warmth spread through my body as if he’d kissed me. “With you. And if you’d hit on me, you’d remember.”
