“I know.” She nibbled on her lower lip. “Do I really have to wear a dress, though? It’s not formal. I can wear the slacks.”
I yanked the towel off and pulled her closer to me. “It’s your birthday. Wear the dress.”
She wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me. “It might be too tight.”
“It’s not.”
I brushed my finger over her clit, enjoying her sharp intake of air. “Dex, we have to get dressed.” She groaned when I took a taut nipple in my mouth and tugged it with my teeth. “We’re going to be late.”
Maya had planned a brunch since we were all in town. The matriarch of the family was slowly getting back to her life and finally made the decision to stop practicing law. While she’d continue teaching at the Law School, she wanted the flexibility to travel, to enjoy her life.
“We will.” I pulled her on top of me and rolled over. “Later,” I murmured against her ear. “Much later.”
Two orgasms later, she moaned. “I’m going to be no good today.” She kissed me and slid off the bed. “I have to hop in the shower again.”
Once she disappeared into the bathroom, I glanced at my phone. I had at least fifty new messages, all about the cake lady. I scrolled up to catch up on the latest messages and snickered at the last one.
Blake:Dex!!! Chime in, muthafucka.
Even though she’d sent it an hour ago, I finally responded:Go to Costco. Save some money.
Dallas:That ship has long sailed. Cake situation, handled. Are you back?
Our flight had landed late last night, and we’d driven straight to my house. After careful consideration and many pros and cons lists, Charlye and I had settled on Atlanta—andMichigan. Her idea to expand the business had sparked renewed interest in Carl, and he’d postponed his retirement for a few years. The plan was to launch in Ann Arbor and prepare one of the current employees to take a more active role at the Atlanta site.
Charlye would split her time in Michigan and Georgia to allow Carl more family time with his wife and his great-nieces. It would also give me more time to determine the next step for my business.
I texted that I was in town, then added:Stop texting.
For some reason, Dallas requested to change the call to FaceTime. Seconds later, my siblings were on the screen. I kept the camera off.
“Blake?” Dallas called. “What is wrong with you?”
The murderous look in Blake’s eyes told me she was ready to fight. Her hair was piled high on her head, and she had something green on her face. “Really, Dallas? You’re the worst kind of worker. Always wanting a face-to-face when you could’ve sent an email. I have shit to do today.”
“I hope that involves cleaning that shit off your face, sis,” Dallas retorted, unphased by Blake’s ire. She was holding my niece, Dominique, in her arms. We’d only been gone for a month, and it seemed like she’d already changed so much. “I miss seeing your faces.”
“Aw.” Bliss beamed. “Motherhood has softened you. I’m proud.”
Dallas raised a brow. “Not really. I’ll still cut a bitch.”
“With what?” Paityn asked. “A bottle?”
Everyone laughed at Dallas’ expense. She held up a middle finger. “Anyway, I called to let you know that the parents have requested that we be on time for every event on the agenda today. There’s a lot going on.”
“Again,” Blake said. “A text. This could’ve been a text. Y’all all get on my nerves. Dex, what the hell are you doing?”
“Right?” Bliss said. “We need to see your face too.”
Asa was running on the treadmill. “You never get on my nerves, Blake.”
Blake pressed her lips together. “You get on my nerves every day. If you weren’t my brother, we wouldn’t be here. Because I would’ve kicked your ass a long time ago.”
Charlye came out of the bathroom again. This time she was naked. And… my dick appreciated that. Now hard and horny again, I beckoned to her with my finger.
She winked. “Nope.”
“Dex, show yourself,” Blake shouted. “You’re the only one I want to see.”
