“In a good way?”

“The best way.” She patted my knee. “I love her for you.”

“Me too.”

“I do have a question, though,” she said. “I always assumed Demi was like me to you. Close, but notthatclose.”

I barked out a laugh. “She is like you. In a way. Minus the sex part.”

“That’s what I’m saying. You never wanted to have sex with me.”

Frowning, I asked, “Did youwantme to have sex with you?”

“Hell, no,” she scoffed. “I’m just curious. I think I’m pretty fine.”

“You’re beautiful.”

“As long as you know that.”

“Just not Demi.”

Skye nodded. “I’ll accept that.”

I hugged her. “But you’re stillmySkye.”

She leaned into me. “And you’re stillmyDuke.”

Demi walked over to us. “Hey.”

“What’s up, Demi?” Skye smirked. “Mmm Hmm.”

“Oh no,” Demi said. “What happened?”

Skye stood and gave her a hug. “Nothing. Sit there. He needs you.” She pointed at me. “Don’t fuck up.”

I saluted Skye. “I won’t.”

“You can stay,” Demi said, a confused look on her face.

“It’s getting late.” Skye yawned. “I’m old in spirit. I’m usually in bed by nine. And I need Garrett to give me some, so there’s that.”

Demi laughed. “Okay.” Skye walked away and Demi took her seat.

“More champagne?” I asked.

“Sure. I’ll go with you.” We walked over to the bar. “It was a beautiful wedding,” she said, while we waited for her drink. “Charlye is stunning.”

“She is.”

The bartender set down a glass of champagne and a scotch on the rocks for me. “They’re so happy.” Demi sipped her champagne and set the glass down. Shifting toward me, she straightened my tie and smoothed her hands over my lapel. “There you go. Perfect.”

I kissed her, chuckling at her wide-eyed look. “You look beautiful.”

Demi scratched the back of her neck. “You just did that. I guess we’re out there, huh?”

“I’m not hiding.”

Wrapping her arms around my neck, she brushed her lips over mine. “Good. I don’t want to hide.”
