Rissa glanced over her shoulder, just as my sister gathered her purse and motioned for Bishop to follow her out of the ballroom. Turning to me, she laughed. “My friend is a lil’ freak.”
“She does create sex toys for a living.”
“Point taken.”
When the bartender returned with our drinks, I tipped him and waited until he made his way down to the other side of the bar before I turned my attention back to Rissa. “I heard about Rick.”
Rissa traced the rim of her glass with her finger. “Yeah, I figured. You’re not the disrespectful, hit-on-a-married-woman type.”
“Glad you know that.”
Meeting my eyes, she changed the subject. “How many weddings have we been to in the past year?”
“I don’t know.” I lifted one shoulder. “Four or five. Why weren’t you in the wedding?”
“Rough time. Demi took pity on me and told me she would be good if I just showed up.”
“I’m sorry.”
She waved a hand at me. “You don’t have to apologize. I made the decisions I made. Now I have to live with them.”
“Words to live by.”
“What you know about that?” she asked skeptically.
“A lot.”
She took a sip of her drink and gave me a sidelong glance. “What are you really trying to do, Asa?”
“I’m trying to fuck you into next week, if you let me.”
“Damn,” she whispered.
“Listen, I know how to get what I want and I know how to make sure you get what you want.”
Another smirk formed on her lips. “You think so?”
“I can do lil’ one-two, three-four.”
She threw her head back with laughter. “You’re funny.” She searched my eyes. “But I like a good lil’ one-two, three-four.”
“Then, say the word.”
Silence, then . . . “The real question is, are you discreet?”
“Absolutely.”
She finished her drink. “6514. My room number. Give me twenty minutes.”
“In twenty minutes, you could have already come on my face.”
Rissa leaned back, eyeing me curiously. “Shit, Asa. Maybe I should be scared of you.”
My gaze dropped to her mouth. “Don’t be too scared.”
She shook her head. “Nah.” She leaned in and whispered, “I actually want to see what you’re working with. If I like it, I might keep you for a little bit, show you some things.”
I stood to my full height, slyly brushing my palm over her hand. “I would tell you to be ready . . .” I scanned the immediate area to make sure there was no one close to us before I leaned in. “But I suspect you’re already wet for me.”
