Dallas cracked up. “And did.”
“Who told you, Demi?” I pressed.
Blake shrugged. “You know that was some pillow talk shit. Somehow, Duke found out and they were spilling their guts after an orgasm. Or two.”
“Or three, chile,”—Dallas gave Blake a high-five—“that shit will have you losing all your composure.”
We all burst out in a fit of giggles.
“Seriously, though,” Tyn said. “You’re good, sis.”
I looked at all of them. “Just so you know, I did break your brother’s heart.” I rushed on before Blake could get a word out. “But I’m here to fix it.”
Dallas shared an amused glance with her sister. “I was gonna say . . .”
“You know how we get down,” Blake added. “I would hate to have to fight you, Rissa. I love you.”
Bliss giggled. “Sissy, I wonder when your violent streak is going to end? I mean, you’re still ready to fight and you’re having consistent sex. And you love your man. And you’re a mother.”
“Oop,” Dallas said. “I guess she told you, Blake.”
Blake rolled her eyes. “Please. I love you, sista, but you need to go find a dick to sit on.”
I barked out a laugh. “Oh my God, you are so wrong for that.”
“Shut the hell up, Blake,” Bliss grumbled.
“I’m so serious.” Blake finished her cobbler. “Just because you don’t have anyone to hakuna-your-ta-tas doesn’t mean everyone else has to suffer. And my son won’t stop me from tearing some shit up. Neither will Lennox.”
Bliss folded her arms over her chest. “I can’t just sit on a random. I’m not aheauxby nature.”
“Since you don’t have anyone else to match in the family, maybe it’s time foryouto get your razzle dazzle on,” Dallas suggested. “And not with a mediocre dick either.”
“Uh oh,” Demi muttered. “Y’all better stop talking about dicks. Dad is coming.”
Papa Stew reached the porch with a wide smile on his face. “Rissa, what are you doing here?”
I gave him a hug. “Came to see Asa.”
He nodded, glancing over his shoulder at the kids and Asa. “You better go get him. Ezra likes to be out there all day.”
Peeking around him, I spotted Asa chasing Bliss’s daughter around the swing set. He caught her easily and tossed her into the air. The little girl screamed in delight when he spun her around before he set her back on her feet.
Tyn bumped my leg. “You better go get your man, sis.”
I made a face at my bestie. “Shut up.”
Papa Stew chuckled. “It’s okay, Rissa. I already talked to Jax.”
“O-kay?”
“You have my blessing,” he added, squeezing my shoulder before excusing himself.
Sucking in a deep breath, I headed toward the play area. Before I could step in the grass, Asa spotted me and met me halfway. It felt like a sign. “Hi,” I said.
He brushed his thumb over my cheek. “Hi.” He placed a gentle kiss on my lips. “I missed you.”
“I love you,” I blurted, nearly choking around the emotion clogging my throat.
