Wow, I really am delulu.

“Ah fuck…” I sank onto a weird bench thing with a tiny window above it. No way in hell I’m fitting through that. I mean, the amount of time it would take me to wiggle my whole-ass 6 feet 3 inches through that hole, I would probably get caught before I could worm my way out of the window. I would also probably need lube. My shoulders could never. Useless.

BANG!

My ears rang, and I couldn’t see anything. I thought I had heard something drop on the cold cement floor. If they were trying to kill me, they were doing a terrible job. It was getting hard to breathe. I still didn’t know what was going on. I felt so warm.

I wanted to play longer.

Chapter 6

ADELINA

“What the fuck was that??” My heart raced, and panic set in. Not sure how anyone could have known where we were. Did they know who I was and who I had taken?

FUCK. I should have listened to Dorin and not taken Cezar.

There was no way I was going to let this ruin everything I had worked for or put the lives of the people who trusted me at risk.

“Get everyone out of here. I will go get…it.”

Though Dorin did not want to listen to me, he knew better than to try and talk me out of something.

I made my way into the basement, where the start of the explosions had happened. He was coughing his way toward the bars, still trapped where the blast had hit the hardest. The fucking keys to these cells were ridiculous.

All he did was smile, looking at me the best he could. I was able to get the cell open and grab onto him. Why the hell is he so damn big? Nope, I got this. I had trained to save people, not just murder them.

Or I could leave him, I mean…nope, no. Come on, be better than the Torrims.

Cezar was trying to help as I dragged his massive ass through the rubble. After I got to a certain point, I saw Dorin waiting for me, just like a stubborn old man. He grabbed Cezar’s othershoulder, and we were able to get him to one of the cars around the back before the explosions intensified.

In the refuge of the speeding car, we sat catching our breath. What a fucking mess! Now all I could think of was what came next. After what I had just done, after who I had taken, there was no way they weren’t here for Cezar. So, either it ended at that, or they also knew who I was.

Which part of me do they know?

“How badly do you think you fucked up, Nycto Reaper?”

Cezar and his stupid fucking smirk. His eyes were watering from being so close to the explosions. Dorin was about to cover his mouth, but I stopped him. What was the point, and quite frankly, he was right. However, with that bit of information, I confirmed that he remained ignorant of my true identity. I could work with this. Before I had the chance to make any snide remarks, he passed out.

We made our way to one of the hideouts so we could assess the situation. Some of my guys carried Cezar in and got him on the bed for Dorin to check his injuries.

“Most of the blasts were from smoke and flash bombs. They likely wanted to capture us alive. Not the brightest assailants,” Dorin remarked casually, collecting supplies to tend to Cezar.

“Yeah…goddammit.” I was pacing back and forth in the room. I hate it when things do not go according to plan.

Cezar stirred, moving around on the bed like a fish out of water. What the hell was he doing?

“Fuck…” he winced in pain. From what I could see, the wounds didn’t seem that bad.

As soon as Cezar could hold himself upright in the bed, the first thing he said was, “Where is my phone?” The panic in his voice seemed a bit dramatic for a phone. “Shit, tell me you grabbed my phone?”

Seriously.

“… I grabbed your phone. Calm the hell down. It’s just a phone.”

He shot me a look that said he didn’t believe a damn word, so I pulled it out of my pocket and flashed it at him. Cezar tried to get off the bed, and my guys held him down, not that he put up much of a fight. He hardly had the strength.

“Right… I am still your captive.” Now, it just seemed like he was toying with me. Annoying.
